Here here..... Just got out June 2022 and haven't been to a kingdom hall since! It's been "the best life ever" since leaving but I'm still healing from the abuse.

Everyone who perpetrated crimes against others while involved in a cult shares responsibility, with the exception of children. Former cult leaders already have a history of abusing their power, which is why they should not be allowed to become leaders in deprogramming or cult rescue groups.

When is Lalich going to be held accountable for her exploitation of the Heaven's Gate group in order to get her PhD noticed and launch her career? Lalich claimed in an Op-Ed in 2017 that she had 'spoken to former members' of HG BEFORE the mass suicide made a media splash in March of 1997. But if one analyzes Lalich's writings from that time she makes NO mention of having spoken to any former members. In fact, the only known former member of HG that Lalich is know to have spoken to was Dick Joslyn and that was well after the mass suicide. And he happened to have been the only former member known to have gone to a cult de-programmer. How convenient, talk about confirmation bias. And she based her entire PhD and first book on speaking to one former of a group that she is allegedly an 'expert' on. The only group that she is an expert on is the one that she was part of. Rob Balch is a retired Professor who has spoken to dozens of former members of HG and he does not come to the same ignorant and biased conclusions that Lalcih does. Balch is an actual Heaven's Gate scholar and Lalich is a fraud who exploited HG in order to get media appearances and her PhD topic noticed. She has no desire to speak to any former members of HG because what we have to say does not fit in with her agenda and her agenda is to further her career and continue to make money as an alleged 'cult expert'. Lalich exploited the very group that she claims we are all victims of in order to forge her career and become the media darling that she is. Disgusting hypocrisy from this self-aggrandizing woman.

"7 year olds with index cards , with a pressure to fill them to take "bookings" for sex" ?Evidence please. This so-called cult expert is muddying the waters of genuine cult enquiries with this kind of unsubstantiated nonsense. Which begs the question: Who are so-called cult experts "accountable to"?

I'm sorry you have tried to denigrate me. I was told that by a woman who was raised in the Rajneesh/Osho cult. She had no reason to fabricate and I believed her. Naturally, survivors speak to me in confidence and therefore, I don't reveal my sources. Perhaps it was not your experience or something you didn't witness, but it did happen!

@@janjalalich4080 Thanks for your response. As a cult-expert, I guess you can present what you believe as fact on social media, and that you are not accountable to anyone to prove the allegations you make as long as you do not attempt to pursue any alleged perpetrators legally.

@@larsjorgan7964 While your reply hardly merits a response, let me say this. In all my years of working in this field, I have found that survivors don't need to fabricate what happened because primarily, their experiences have been harmful enough. It's only the academic cult apologists who have a history of promoting the idea that it's "disgruntled" ex-members who make up horror stories. That said, I see no need to continue this conversation, as you seem to be solidly wedded to your perspective.

@@janjalalich4080 I did not say that all allegations are by “disgruntled ex-members who make up horror stories”. Neither do I accept that survivors, victims or ex/anti-cultists never fabricate stories. As I said in my first post, I find that the tendency of self-proclaimed cult-experts to blithely accept and publicly recycle all outrageous stories, however absurd or unproven, even satanic panic type stuff, muddies the waters. Cults and their apologists, like all religions, will spout propaganda in an attempt to hold onto their turf. Unfortunately, many on the cult-exposer side also become caught up in the self-serving biases of their own ideological, emotional and vocational investment. Thank-you for your time.

My God, please read up or watch " Children or God." cult. You will know - as horrific as this sounds Cults do this sort of injury to the kids. Osho's treatment of kids is probably coming out now- because the children are of age. The cult experts are accountable to bringing validation to those who have suffered horrifically in any cult or cult like system to build their humanity and strength. Who are you accountable to?
