I'm afraid I have to disagree regarding the types of images and gradations that can be achieved strictly using a sandblaster. By varying the distance of the tip and amount of time you concentrate on an area, as well as removing the resist in multiple stages, you can achieve great depth and a distinct variance in tones. It is not simply an "all or nothing" process. Your personal dislike for a process doesn't mean the process is limited or deficient in some way. It just means there's a lot more you need to discover about it before disparaging it.
