These are great tricks. I woulda never thought to do this on my own even though I've been staring these scales and arpeggios right in the face for years now. Thanks a million!

I had a lightbulb moment here. This is one of the first videos where I actually understand some facet of what's going on in certain jazz solos. Thank you for that!

That nice line after 4:05 remind me of Chopin, and no doubt many other musicians & composers, but that's the first one that came to mind

I've always understood this concept as "upper and lower neighbor tones." Lower is always a half step below, upper is always the next highest scale tone. You can apply this to every scale tone as well as arpeggios.

The placement for background music seems odd. It's like right when we want to start to focus on your talking the music starts lol

Thanks for your comment Bflatest. I am aware of the audio problems and I'm trying to get better versions from the video production team. Unfortunately this is taking longer than expected. In the meantime I'd like to apologise for the sh**ty audio. I hope it doesn't detract too much from Sid's wonderful lessons.

Ditto this. It's in most (or all) of their vids. I'm really glad to have Sid, so I buck up and listen over the music, but it is, indeed, supremely annoying.

For what it's worth, I agree. I have informed the video production team of this matter. If it gets fixed, I will re-up.

What assface thought it would be appropriate to dub in moronic overloud muzak when this guy (who has clearly drunk deep at the well of Ted Greene, God love 'em both) has already beautifully introduced the segment with a great bluesy improv?

At 6:53 " Now we've used a half step BELOW each of the chord tones" But the A flat minor scale is a half step ABOVE the chord tone G in the G7 altered chord.

Yes but the 7th of the A flat minor (f#) is a half step below the G7th root note G.

translate to Spanish at least it would be more than interesting below the position of the screen your colleague, speak and speak but if you knew that only listens to you and does not understand anything that does not know English, please be kind if you have wishes that all Really listen to you and do not let you see without understanding or well above so as not to damage the visual. It's a shame, you try hard to prove but it's limited, since it's given to a simple group that understands English well, even to teach the chords ... thanks and we recognize and appreciate your moments dedicated to teaching ... tito (for the students that want to know the jazz in the diapasaon, let's be supportive79 years 69 of jazz))
