05 lly duramax no start condition, blowing 25 amp edu fuse FICM

This is on my 05 GMC Sierra 2500hd 6.6 duramax. Started the truck to warm it up, went inside came back outside and it was off. 🤔
Thought it was out of fuel, put 5 gallons in and reprimmed, still not starting.
Looked at all the fuses and the 1* 25amp edu was blown, replaced tried to start the truck and it popped it again. Unplugged both FICM connectors, replaced the fuse, cranked the truck and the fuse did NOT blow this time. Wiring is good. Removed FICM from the truck and took it apart very carefully. Blown capacitor on the board.

Thanks for the video! My LLY wouldn't start as I was leaving to get the RV for Memorial Day camping. Purged the filter, no help. Found this video, replaced blown fuse, bam, it runs. Didn't blow it again, yet. There is probably a raw wire and will likely happen again but I have spare fuses in case.

Hey very very helpful video. I’m having same issue but my 25a fuse isn’t blown but check it with a test light and not getting any power with key on or even while cranking. Any idea if my fuse block could be bad?

It is very possible, I have a new fuse box and ECM in my truck as well

Could not save the board. Had to replace the ficm.

Bolted and plugged the connectors in, started right up.

any chance we could get a picture of the circuit board under the capacitors? mine has a different burned capacitor and im trying to figure out the circuit underneath it.

It’s a multi layered board from what I noticed, there was no saving mine at all

@@rickschroeder21 thanks. The rebuilder claims mine can't be rebuilt but I am gonna give it a try. I have been broke down a month. Recyclers sell me a ficm then deliver a transmission module or an engine control module. Still waiting on another to get shipped here. These are tough to find. I would like to figure out a simple schematic and repair to share with everyone in my place
