052 Sailing Canal du Midi part 3 (France) Agde - Béziers

We sail from Agde to Béziers. (Ondertiteling in NL/ENG/FR/DE, subtitles in Dutch, French, German)
First lock is the famous round lock of Agde. This lock is really almost round and has 3 exits.
Very first bridge we have to take down our windows because the Barolo is too high.
We pass the the famous construction of the Libron. This river crosses the Canal du Midi at Vias with a spectacular, 100-years old construction.
We pass different locks and the beautiful village of Villeneuve-lès-Béziers.
After passing the lock of more then 4 drop, we arrive at the port of Béziers.
We will stay there for some days.
The Barolo is a Linden kotter of 13.70 m

Wij hebben alleen even door Agde gelopen. Nooit geweten dat agde en cap d’agde 2 verschillende plaatsen zijn

I am following your progress on the Canal du Midi guide published by Navicarte. It was printed a bit too small in German, French and English but the maps on the right hand pages are excellent. Doubtless later editions are even better.. You encountered many more hire boats since my trip.

Nice to hear! Thanks. In fact we expected even more rental boats. But so far no problem. Besides this everybody is on holiday so we stay relaxed 😁

Great video. What is the air draft of Barolo with the windows down? And the draft too? It's a kotter, right? Don't kotters generally have deeper hulls? This could explain why you hit the mud so often. Thanks for the videos.

We are not completely sure but windows down maybe 3.10 m Draft is 1.25 m It certainly is a kotter and this is the absolute max for a boat on this canal. But we knew this could happen so we will see how far we get. Regards

This is nice to hear, thank you. We are still extremely happy with Starlink . It works, that’s it. The ‘hand water under the keel’ is a bit of a problem already. But we will see how far we get. Enjoy your Pikmeerkuiser, great boat!

Passen en meten - keurig gedaan, hoor! Tip - 'k had een oom die niet onder de brug door kon met z'n schuit - hij stopte een bus met school kinderen - iedereen aan boord en ja, 5 centimeter over... - on ne sait jamais...! :)
