2003 - March 28 (I only have a partial - missing 3 min at end)
2004 - May 28 mine is a damaged mix of two episodes

Well that's because the actors then started their careers treading the boards, lots of theatre work, classic training. The actors now steal a living.

Looking for 0565 May 11 1966 when Ena Sharples viewed a high rise flat. Our house opposite was used for supplying electricity for the cables and amenities for the crew .. my mum made countless brews but she loved it plus she got paid a fiver

I go here from a recommendation and watched it all through. What characters! Ena Sharples and Elsie Tanner, Annie and Jack Walker, even Jerry with his accent from somewhere in Lancashire, not the same as Manchester. Brilliant. In recent years it became middle-class, dinner parties, divorces - the writers writing about themselves!

Storylines like this would never work on soap operas today. It’s all about sex and murder. Can you imagine a story today about some older woman shoplifting two cans of salmon from a local pick and save?

@@hannahparsonson5842 No it left Lancashire on 1 April 1974. As far as Jerry Booth's accent is concerned I'd place it in Ashton-under-Lyne, though there is a touch of Burnley there. It's a hybrid on occasion a bit like Sally Dynavor, who is also not a Lancashire native but picked up bits of the Blackburn accent. They are quite distinct from Irma Ogden, who speaks more like a native of Dukinfield.

@@hannahparsonson5842 What I meant was a town in Lancashire, e.g. Burnley, Oldham, Colne, etc., other than Manchester. I am not from there but I can tell the accents are not all the same.

Ena was 67 here, so born 1899, but in 1960 she was hinted as being 70, I think she was aged down a bit to make her more the actress' age.

From our year in 2022, it's hard to believe that the actress was born in the 19th century.

@@13thcentury Yes, born 1898. The actress Margot Bryant who played Minnie was a bit older, born in March 1897. Jack Howarth born 1896.

The backstory of this was that Ena had given her savings to a Vera Lomax (who needed the money to feed her son after her husband deserted her)...so she was hard up. Ena never told anyone. She was fined 40 shillings.

Ena was found guilty of shoplifting two tins of salmon priced at 4/6 each from the Pick a Snip supermarket. Ena refused to give the clerk of the court her age only saying she was only over 21. The Magistrate came to his colleagues defence and insisted on an answer. The clerk admonished Ena for interrupting the evidence given by the supermarket's manager, Mr Snake. Ena was fined 40 shillings and given an absolute discharge as he accused her of setting a bad example to others though admitting the theft was out of character.
