It looks to me like those head bearings need tightened up a little bit. Should not bounce off the stops when you let it fall to either side. Watch what you wish for as far as the leaf blower goes. Some people wish they would outlaw motorcycles!
Good points. The "fall over" is very smooth and possibly too easy. I will take a bit of a turn on the head bearings while I still have the bike up on the lift. As for the leaf blowers, well, I'm old and crotchety, and gas powered leaf blowers, low flying helicopters, and my neighbors Harley are the bane of my existence. Way too many "louds" each day. It's a quality of life thing. Mine is being damaged by those unnecessary noises. I can't convince my neighbor to reinstall his stock pipes, and I can't make the helo's observe flight minimums, but I sure would like to vote to outlaw gas blowers. Battery powered blowers are quieter and make a steady sound rather than the mind killing on-off-on-off-on-off-on-off, three-blocks-away-obnoxious gas ones. You could use a spring hook, or even vice grips on those springs. And who knows what additives are in Carb cleaner ?? I think brake cleaner would be cheaper too.
Spring hooks and vice grips work just fine. Used them for years. Then one day I asked myself, "Why am I being careful with parts I am going to throw away?" So now I just smacks 'em and tosses 'em. As for brake cleaner cleaning old baked on grease: It doesn't work. At all. It's a waste of time. But CRC Carb cleaner cuts thru 40 year old grease like a hot knife thru butter. However, you are correct about the harmful additives. California outlawed the good version of CRC Carb Cleaner. Now I have to be real careful to get the 49 state version when I order my usual 6 cases every three months. As for the additives, well, I will defenenetelty says I isnt as smart as I used to was.
