San Francisco Alumni Choir under the Direction of Ken Abrams performing at Parroquia de San Jacinto, Seville, Spain, June 25, 2024.
The San Francisco Alumni Choir is composed of over forty singers who have two things in common: they all have a love for singing and they all graduated from San Ramon Valley High School in Danville, California. This public school had an incredible choral music program under the direction of Ken Abrams. They were the winners of many prestigious California state festivals, they traveled and performed extensively across the United States, and they also took eight international tours. Highlights of these trips include singing at the Vatican in Rome, St. Lukes in Venice and at the Sydney Opera House. Abrams is now retired after 36 years of teaching and it was at his retirement party in 2022 that a group of them said, “We should all get together and sing under Mr. Abrams and take another international choir tour with him!” The members here today represent nearly the full spectrum of Abrams’ career with singers all the way back to the 1980’s and some who have just graduated in the last three years. They all bring their intense love of music, the joy of sharing their musical talents and their love of traveling around the world to bring you today’s concert presentation.
