After a hit and run, where a woman is killed, young photographer Tun suddenly starts seeing weird shadows on the pictures he takes. Slowly he and his girlfriend discover there is something haunting them. This 2004 horror film from Thailand was written and directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun and Parkpoom Wongpoom, who also directed films as Alone and Phobia.
In the Scariest Horror Films Top 10, The Springwood Slasher shows some of the scariest films ever made. Note: Like the other lists, this is all just opinion-based.

Shutter was an excellent movie! Lots of good scares. I also liked the "real" ghost photographs shown in various backgrounds, like the Brown Lady of Raynham Hall.

Yes! Shutter is what we should call "a horror movie", not like the other children movies, I always laugh when I watch them but this one is really awesome! anyway, I'm from the horror movies fans! :D

I don't think any American horror film has ever scared me. It's always been these really good Japanese/ Asian horror stories that have left me tense and wanting to forget that I ever watched them.

Hi...sorry for my english.. the most important is to understand each others and I do my best to be understood. I think that shutter is one of the best horror film I've ever seen..not only for the horror effect but most of all for the story! great film (in my opinion) I've seen it again and again!

I'm the same with Event Horizon. Every person I've spoken with who has seen it talk about it hushed tones and the words, never seeing it again. I've watched it at least 8 or 9 times and it STILL gives me the Heebee Jeebies

So much props to you for listing THIS one and not the crappy American remake. Most of the American remakes of the Asian horror were terrible. Ring was good(though I think the original had more atmosphere) and Grunge was passible(though I never cared for the original). Everything else(Dark Water, Mirrors, Once Missed Call, Pulse, Shutter...) were HORRIBLE!

oh yes i like this one better than ringu and grudge and eye. this one was REALLY creepy. they all have jump scares but this one really had the best. great pick! and this movie has the best ending!

Definitely a good horror movie . I don't know if anyone of you has seen the movie "Dark remains" . It is another underrated movie with a good story and loads of good scares . Please share your favorites as well .

Is Dark Remains, Asian? You may also want to try Korean horror films which are very psychological. I like Hansel and Gretel most though it is more of a fantasy-thriller than horror.

That's fine kid. just make sure as you get older that the story of your life doesn't become a horror movie itself. If you don't feel any compassion for any of the people that die in these movies, that's a huge issue. if you do feel compassion, but watch them anyway because they're entertaining, good for you! You've got more guts than a ton of people. That's impressive. =)

It's not the jump scares that are the scary things, it's the imagery that goes along with it. Jump scares are only bad when they just make you jump and that's it, but this movie seems filled with the kind of scares that make you jump and then keep you going "Oh! Oh SHIT! OH MY GOD!"

Actually, you're kind of right (even if you were just making a joke). Though, it's a bit more complicated, and that's kind of the point of the story. And just a general comment: Shutter is definitely one of my favourites! It's one of the few stories where both the original and the remake are equally good (just like Dark Water).

I fucking agree! this is one of the only movie's I've rented where I had to stop watching it after dark (with all the lights off, just the flatscreen on) and start watching again the next day. After the scene where she was sitting on the hood of the car, I scraped myself off the ceiling and turned it off. After in daylight, it still scared the hell out of me. Especially the reveal...

Ghosts get to me most so I turned to Asia for my horror fix, and discovered that some of the English horror movies I've seen, were just terrible remakes of Japanese horror movies xD With how bad English horror movies are going, I may as well start directing my own horror movies.

bob yeah essentially everywhere is running out of ideas, they all start rehashing the old stuff and banking on us never seen it done before in older movies. essentially most the "fun" in the world has been exploited. its like wer not just running out of natural resources wer also running out of "fun". internet allowed us to enjoy lots of shits in short time maybe this stuff is in limited supply and we shouldve spaced out the experience so that it will last till wer old. well not anymore we just sniffed it all when wer only in mid-20s lol. this makes me understand all this memes kids kept comming up with, kids are bored too so they just go full random thats what it is. and in the end they created a fragment of new culture so they are really successful on one level. im high as shit atm so dont mind my essay lol

@99ThEGR8One No, that's more like the cheap shots. i'm talking about where the lady turns around and the ghost is right there, and then it's face starts peeling off, and then spiders shoot out of its nose hole. The audience was jumped enough at the ghost being behind her, but when the spiders start eating her fingers, everyone in the theater is screaming and the guy who ordered the Big Gulp no longer has to use the bathroom.
