Simon Bowman is Welsh, so I think he did a very good job playing an American. British people find American accents easier to imitate than Americans trying to talk with an English /Welsh/Scottish or a Northern Irish accent. Andrew Lincoln, Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead, is English as is Hugh Laurie, House, who do perfect American accents, so good in fact that Americans can't believe that they are both English.
