@@bryka2Nalbandian didn't hit his backhand as hard as Safin. But his backhand is better overall in my opinion. He had more options and variety with effortless technique and more steep angles.
Karin Ritter 😂 maybe in terms of clean hitting of the ball, but mate go to your local tennis club, you will see more clean hitters of the ball than you will see tennis wizards who have actually pieced together the wizardry in a usable form
Karin Ritter that might be your ovaries talking ;) Safin is good but to say he had more potential than Fed might be overreaching, i do feel he could have co dominated if he set his mind to it
fienga paul How many times did Wawrinka beat Roger, Rafa, and Novak before he won 3 slams? I'm not saying Safin would have won lots of slams like Roger. But he had the talent to beat anyone and should/could have won more than 2.
Brad Shores do not be envy, my friend. You just need to spend the next 25 years of your life training around 6 to 8 hours per day with racquet and an extra hour or two of cardio/interval training. And also 1 hour of physiotherapy. And yes, rising early and sleeping early too, everyday. And yes, eating as clean as possible. And sleeping as much as possible too. Just need to put in this little hours I mentioned...
But he never tried to be more than a natural talent like Djokovic did. He lacked consistency and professionalism. I mean, half his shots were just an arm rotation, no legs, nothing. That’s what happens usually when you are gifted, you don’t feel the need to improve.
I think that's the old Paully Pavilion at UCLA. I used to go there every year for the Mercedes Benz cup. Saw Agassi vs Sampras in 99.Guga, Hewitt... Saw Haas win a title there too. good stuff and was very close to home.
Satin is amazing! This guy in his prime can beat anyone, though I could say the same thing about anyone who has been ranked number one in the world. All these guys are not human.
Safin's strokes were insanely coordinated and aesthetic for a guy so tall. What a player. With a little better mentality he would have been even greater.
Massive power on each hit without over muscling it. Great technique. Remember when he blew Sampras of the court to win the US Open, he made it look easy. If he hits like that every shot, most people will have trouble keeping up with him in rallies.
Still prefer Marat to all those new modern tennis players. He is the incarnation of the perfect tennis player but he lacks the right mentality. His strikes and movement are just perfect
He was like the Kyrgios back then. Just immense incredible raw talent and we all wished he’d have stayed around a little longer. PS wtf is that practice players grunt lol.
Andre Agassi had the best comment about Safin, if anything worried him before they played: *"Yes. Real big serve. That worries me.* *6'5" always tends to worry me a little too.* *Monster forehand is a bit concerning, as well as a backhand that he can crush off both directions, and the fact that he moves well is a bit unsettling - other than that - no (laughter)"*
@@kesun32145 Nobody was talking about Djokovic. This video has nothing to do with Djokovich. People were just saying how nice Safin backhand stroke was. People like you always talk dumb stuff and always talk about something that wasn't the subject. Nobody said Safin backhand was better than Djokovic. The video is about Marin Safin. You probably going to get an F in debate class.
@@kieunguyen-yf5hc You said Marat had one of the best backhands ever. Once you start talking about who ha the best backhand, that invites Novak Djokovic into the discussion. I don't think you know too much about debating so you shouldn't make comments like that.
The wild thing is that by the time of this video, Safin had actually lost some of his power due to knee problems and he is still hitting pretty big here.
safin misses first serve in net, spins second serve in middle of court, is late to first shot after return, misses the next ball. kicks a tennis ball in random direction, repeat cycle. haha this guy looks like he is not giving any f**ks
Isn't that the "Microgel" paint job? I thought Safin only played the Head pt10 and Head just updated the paint job!? Do you know anything regarding what equipment he used? Just curious, since there seems to be a lot of different opinions out there...
@@johanmelander4521 you're right. That paintjob is microgel and I played with that one too in juniors. He apparently played with the PT10 until '08 then switched to the microgel prestige mid prostock code TGK 237.1 (what he should be using in this video).
