That's a really textbook and safe way to start on a tandem, good job But personally i have been riding anything from xc full suspension bikes to city cruiser from the 70s. Bought a tandem yesterday, my gf hopped on and we simply went off without any precautions. Feels a lot more natural than coordinating it like that to us
I am strugglin a lot! Can you do a new video of starting ? I just feel a lot of weight my cruise weights almost the same as me and we bought have the same high
When you ride a tandem alone without a stoker, the front wheel will support most of the weight. This means that the bike will oversteer more than what you are used to on a single bike or on a tandem with a stoker. However, you get used to this within few minutes, and shouldn't have a problem riding a tandem alone. Just be ready to get funny stares and comments from people when you ride a tandem without a stoker.
