I think I’m too obsessed with this song, because the moment the reverse part was over, I was singing it word for word

Those background singers going "oooh-ooooh-oooh-oooooh" both sooth me and make me feel a sense of longing somewhere deep in my chest.

the little "ding" sound when the reverse part is finally over hits everytime. It feels like being brought back to life or something, like a magician snapping his fingers to bring you back to consciousness

5:06 goes HARD. I've never gotten this hyped up over a song before. I had to punch the air several times to calm myself.

this instrumental made me notice the whistling at 5:24 which goes to the tune of "see how i circle" in labyrinth - they go so well together and it elevetes this track so hard it's amazing

I love how if you listen closely, at 5:07, you are able to hear the reamplification effects and the synths

For some odd reason, at 5:38 I can hear the lyrics almost perfectly if I focus on it enough. I'm probably not the only one but I thought that was pretty interesting.

The reversed part (there’s a comment labelling all the important stuff in it!) seems to be two families having a fight. But they do talk about the ocean and war a lot in this as well. Some of them stating to be afraid of it, but people seem to be talking down to a single person. I want to leave this up to discussion! I love this song and the hidden meanings and messages throughout it, it has so many *L A Y E R S*

4:57 love the off-kilter piano. when it starts it feels very off-beat and disoriented. that's a cool little detail; this song has so much to appreciate in it.

Instrumental Mind Electric is its own form of fuckery, gets even more bizarre once it gets to the "normal" part! 10/10

Singing to an instrumental word for word... Help, I plead insanity

When I only listened to the final version of the song, I had my own theory of it being about a *minor* sentenced to the electric chair or electroshock therapy. I thought it was this little kid's trial, with various people of the jury crying or interrupting. I swear I heard people going "just a little boy!" and "He's been known to-" in the final version at the beginning. This demo has made me consider something else, however. the "I really have no power over my mind" guy is clearly the same voice as the "crying guy" from the final version, so it's strange that he's the one saying he has no control over his mind if the minor is on trial, which he sounds nothing like. so i have a theory he's the actual defendant, and the little boy/girl's voice is some witness or his kid or something making up a story to defend the guy. the judge saying "Oh?" prompting a response from the small child and it's response of "jumping on the beach of Timbuktu" sounds very made up and exactly what a kid would do to get out of trouble. it's immediately shut down with l o g i c and f a c t s, and the kid just says oh. the judge then comforts the kid with the "at least you tried, I'll give that imagination..." and I can assume he just called it's imagination impressive. i have no idea what the genius soothsayer diviners are about, nor the "ok compadre" xd as for the "You ought to be ashamed of yourself", it starts with a fade in and ends with a fade out, as if someone's saying this as we're walking by. as the song is meant to be a first person view, it's not unlikely that this is some jury member insulting the defendant as they walk by. the demonic and honestly creepily slow "Y O U O U G H T T O B E" might be how it sounded to our insane protagonist. this is all just pieced together from blurbs from this song and my theory of the final version, so it's kinda half assed. In short, guy goes on trial, pleads insanity, some kid witness makes up a story to keep him out of jail, but his story is obviously fake so it does nothing. Guy gets sentenced to electric chair or electroshock therapy anyway, and the final version of TME happens with stuff like lightning striking his temples, electrifying his chambers and scorching out his sovereignty.

at 3:35 it's probably a rehashed edit of "infirmary" but it also really sounds like "surge-surge-surgery"

The temptation to learn this song is strong.

I've listened to this so many times, that it might as well be one of my comfort songs at this point. I absolutely LOVE the choir like singing in this!!

I literally feel like i'm going insane with the distorted parts of the song, both headphones on and full volume. But 5:00 goes hard though, it feels like it's racking and shaking at my brain in my skull

at 4:44 there's some backwards dialogue that isn't in the reversed part, when i reversed it i could make out "new species of neurotransmitters are still being discovered"

I think I like the backwards portion 1000% percent more without the lyrics. If they combined that with the original forward section it'd be perfect (to me).
