In “Night and the Nightman,” the character of Johnny Domino, a saxophone player/jazz musician was living in San Francisco, California when his Miata car was hit by a runaway cable car. The cable car was struck by a strange lightning, called the Jumpstart effect, a burst of energy that give humans ultra-powers. As a result, Johnny Domino and all those aboard the cable car were transformed into Ultras. Johnny become serious injured by the car crash and was in a coma for several weeks. The doctors do not believe in his survival because a fragment of shrapnel was embedded in his brain. However, Johnny lived and acquired the ability to hear evil thoughts of people around him. Also, his eyes were permanently dilated, giving him incredible night vision. Finally, his brain has been altered and he has prolonged insomnia where he lost his ability to sleep. He becomes a costumed vigilante and called himself the Night Man.
I was genuinely surprised to find out he was a real character with a real comic series. 😳 also kinda think he should have been given some more powers than just enhanced vision and mild Telepathy. I mean he was up against monster than used a car as a weapon prior. The saxophone ending was nice though.
I thought the Nightman live action TV show was just a fever dream and NOW i find out it was real and that Nightman was in the Ultraforce cartoon. Mind officially blown
That NightMan character deserves better. Since Marvel Comics now owns the rights to the Character. Fans should petition online for Marvel Comics to bring NightMan to the live action Cinema universe.
Of course it was the only appearance by Johnny Domino he was on top of the building doing the I am the night I am Batman speech and lightning hit his sax.
Prime and Prototype are so my top 2 favorite ultras. Take a wild guess on who's my 3rd favorite? I'll give you a hint...his origin is inspired by Steve Engleheart. (He also looks 🦇 Batman)
Lets see back in the good old 90's my comic book obsessions were the X-Men, Spider-Man, Savage Dragon, Spawn, The Maxx, Gen 13, Wild C.A.T.S., Nightman, Ultra Force, and anything manga related. It's interesting to see what qualifies as the ideal super bod for dudes back in the 90's, get a leaner power lifter bod type with long hair that you can make a ponytail out of and grow a stubbly five o' clock shadow. As well as wearing a tight O'Neil style body suit with several belt pouches around the thighs with a medium to long leather jacket over the whole thing.
One thing i miss about the 90s besides not worrying about bills. The cartoons had KICKASS music. Johnny jamming on that saxophone. They cancelled Ultraforce without truly giving it a chance to grow. Same goes for Wildcats.
Wow!!!! I remember watching a few of theses episodes. UltarForce was a great series. But I’ve never heard of the Malibu comics company. But these episodes were really awesome
Poor Ellie, targeted by an evil alien. Good stuff with Johhny/Nightman. Contrary's so good. 🙂 Glad to see all the people, including Ellie, were okay. I used to live not far from the Cliff House in the Sunset area of SF. Great ep.
2:18 I dont know why but I crack up at the accident scene. This guy went on a joyride wearing sunglasses at night and tried to rev through a no stop sign busy intersection, then has the goad to scream victim. 2:20 😂 what a episode.
They didn't screw it up, they did what WWE pretty much did to WCW when they brought them out. Threw it in the fucking can after burying the main talent.
Well That Figures why He's Called Night Man Just Like Little Joe He gets his Powers from Moonbeams from upon High, This You cannot Deny. Musicians are Like TUBERS We Work Late. and Some of us Have Ponytails. Johnny Usually Uses a Hologram of himself when he goes on Patrol, so Nobody gets wise to the fact that He and Night Man are 1 and the Same.
I learned of that from a podcast. Actually, that entire podcast is why i found out about Ultraverse in the first place. I found out about Malibu from their infamous Street Fighter comic.
I enjoyed this show, and I still am. Although Contrary always disappointed me a bit. Giving Emma Frost and a little bit of Storm in the fashion department. I wish she'd perhaps been a sorceress instead of the empathic. But still cool. Is this the Night Man they based the 90's live action series on? Yup. I see that he is.
Okay, this bugged me both issue #1 of the comic and here; WHERE DOES NIGHTMAN GET HIS EQUIPMENT!??? Seriously, it's just like the comics, where you flip one page and then suddenly he has the costume, the utility belt, the goggles, and everything else out of nowhere. I don't get it, this isn't Bruce Wayne we're dealing with here. How does a Jazz musician get all of that stuff?
yeah, that bugged me too. at least in the comics they showed him altering it to better suit his style... and nightman first got the shit kicked out of him by 3 burglars. But I'm not sure if the bug lady's better than Death Mask... a guy who cut off people's faces and wore them.
Comics explained it. He had money as a successful Jazz singer, had money from the settlement due to the cable car accident from the city, and used his father former police connections to buy and appropriate equipment. TV show.....uh... hey look he's on the roof with a sax....
@@nateescobales6930The Ultraverse does the same thing. They tried recruiting The Squad which they turned down because y'know. Can't really trust anyone in the government if they're gonna add you to the CKL
