At first I thought “8 minutes? That’s quite a bit too long for a song from an obscure video game, isn’t it?” Then I listened. And now it’s not long enough.
'Wings that don't reach' transitioning to 'Live-A-Live' was fantastic! I knew those songs sounded similar to one another. I still say Oersted deserved better.
I once liked this song that was uploaded by someone else. Sadly, their channel was shut down. I hope that yours doesn’t either so that we can all listen to this wonderful rendition.
I looked for this for a long long time. Never played the game, didn’t know the full name of the song, just the words “don’t, and reach”! Thank you sir!
Live A Live has some of the most memorable music I've ever had the joy of experiencing in a video game. To anyone who has not played it and somehow found this video: please. Please play this game. I promise you that you will regret nothing.
Not anymore. I'm one of those who didn't know this game 2 years ago. But I love it now that I finished the remake for Switch. One of the best and most unique games I've ever experienced.
IT wouldn't surprise me if Live A Live was a big inspiration on Yoko Taro. How anyone can be evil if they believe what they did was right, only to be consumed by hatred and anger when rejected.
If this game is ever remade, and this theme is used in this style again, add a new phase to the last fight (Like after Pure Odio) where we just fight and brawl out with Oersted, Snake vs Ocelot style.
Nah, I’m not sure if that would work well personally. There are times when two characters should come to straight fisticuffs... but LaL doesn’t seem to fit that. Oersted’s already made his decision - irreversibly so. There’s no coming back from this. You’ve already destroyed his hatred, fifteen times in fact. All he has left is a bitter sense of what could have been. He doesn’t need someone to come by and punch sense into him; he’s dying by his own machinations. That may seem harsh, but he put it best himself - anyone who has thrown away their humanity and accepted evil, in any time, any place, can become a king of demons.
As cool as it would be, I really can't argue with your logic, J Dawg. Even if it was an incredibly easy battle with a visibly wounded Oersted who can't do anymore than 2 damage to your team at a time, and it's more just whittling away at him to grant him the death he's longed for, with a melancholy version of his theme playing. It is more fitting that he dies his own way. Living so long by the faith others place in him. His death should be his own, not gifted to him by some otherworldly hero. I just finished Live a Live today, and, if anything, I would have liked to see Oersted's silhouette appear alongside the other heroes over the sunrise, but vanish as the sun comes up, as though he was not really there. Oersted was too far-gone, and he's become the manifestation of hatred. He is Odio, and he will always exist in hatred. He puts the "a-live" in "Live a Live."
