Fun Fact: Ants and Termites are natural enemies, and termites are in fact a heck of a lot larger than ants but in battle, ants annihilate termites. The Ants are a lot more aggressive than the termites and have strength in larger numbers. Ants are also known to raid termite nests and even eat them sometimes
I wouldn't Really consider that to motivating or comforting, if I were in battle, I'd Actually consider it scary, because if Anyone is in war or The Military; chances are, someone Will die.
@@tinker.belle.501. listen to any american military song (this one is based on Johny comes marching home) and you'll see that a strange amount of them are about how they're going to die brutal deaths. The airborne are legendary for "Gory Gory" being super dark.
+Lewis Roantree I don't know... in a Bugs life, all the bugs were virtually the same size and height, but here they were portrayed in a more accurate style. A Grasshopper is much much bigger than an Ant.
Yes, but remember the Termite war... Both sides were Equal and yet both sides were destroyed, sometimes numbers don't exactly make a difference. Just look at us... (Though this is silly) we could destroy the entire colony just by stepping on them. One crushes a million
Man, when the music hits at 2:46, it always sent a shiver down my spine because you've just had a motivational song during a march, then you have the impeding demise about to begin
That's war my friend, first your off to a glorious battle then you actually get to the battle field and suddenly you wonder which breath will be your last ⚔️
2:34...It's quiet, too quiet. Your platoon Sargeant begins to look around. The horns bare and music kicks up, a hail of gunfire erupts from a seemingly every direction. "TAKE COVER! RETURN FIRE, GODDAMMIT!" Now begins a increasingly desperate fight just to survive. Platoon mates, some you've known since boot, are dying around you. Maintain your sanity and keep fighting if you want to see the sunrise.
Personally, I REALLY like the part at 1:34 It's just the choir of it intensifying to such an amount of participants that it sounds like a whole army, which, of course it is. But it REALLY shows it there in my mind.
Isn't it funny that DreamWorks is made up of Ex Pixar employees, and then when they left, Pixar literally STOLE the idea of a Ant/bug movie from the DreamWorks team so they retaliated with ANTZ which if I remember right, Antz didn't do too well back in the day but it was one of those movies where you either liked Antz or Bugs life as a kid
@@bloodknight2132 I think Antz didn't do as well because the humour and story in general were a bit more grown up compared to A Bugs Life and similar films of the time so they couldn't market it to kids at the time and adults generally dismissed animated films as kids ones.
Clone solider#1: So theses Jedi, they're not gonna put up a fight. I mean, talking about shooting them right? Clone Soldier#2: Not really Kid, they have Light saber and have 'The Force'. Clone Soldier #3: Hey!! Keep a move on Shorty!!! We Clone go marching in two by two! Hara! Hara! We all be dead before we're through! Hara! Hara! Clone Soldier#1: Say, what exactly does our Platoon do? Do we service beverages or require paperwork? Clone soldier#2: Our Platoon has the best assignment of all, we're the first into battle. The ants go marching one by one, hurrah, hurrah We slaughter termites just for fun, hurrah, hurrah The ants go marching two by two, hurrah, hurrah We'll all be dead before we're through, hurrah, hurrah The ants go marching three by three, hurrah, hurrah, hurrah, HURRAH We're off to face our destiny, hurrah, hurrah The ants go marching four by four, hurrah, hurrah You'll find there is a million more, hurrah, hurrah
They consulted several military experts and older veterans who had marched in primarily infinity bassed wars (ww1, ww2, Korea). In order to convay the pre battle fear
It was a big turning point for Z and the movie as a whole. He thought the soldiers were the big heroes getting all the glory, but we see here they're just as disposable as the workers.
What would be more surprising? Seeing Ants with spears and helmets, marching in a square formation, singing about war with termites to the tune of When Johnny comes marchin' home again. Or Seeing a plane flying a little too low?
Well, the tune is a traditional military song of the US army, the original is named "When jhonny comes marching home" and was used since the civil war and thrpugh both world wars and the cold war, so it would be hard for it not to sound military
my teacher showed us mississipi burns ( might have a different name in english) but we were 16 so not rly children but still, was funny nobody had seen it so he ran and got it instead of using the book xD
I never noticed these great lyrics 'til now: We ants go marching one by one! Hoorah! Hoorah! We slaughter termites just for fun! Hoorah! Hoorah! We ants go marching two by two! Hoorah! Hoorah! We'll all be dead before we're through! Hoorah! Hoorah! We ants go marching three by three! Hoorah! Hoorah! We're off to face our destiny! Hoorah! Hoorah!
@@TFZ. Imperial Guard look way more pathetic than ants, since ants are very self sacrifice mentally and every ants will march in to battle without question. While 40k Guard needed some Edgy trench coat trigger happy Gestapo to keep them in line.
The lyrics made me think of another version for Star Wars Fans. "The Clones go marching one by one! Hurrah! hurrah!" "We slaughter clankers just for fun! Hurrah! hurrah!"
2:36 If you listen carefully the first ant to go down screams "Fu$!k they're here"! Gave me vibes of a Vietnam ambush between a US platoon going to clear out rumored VC activity in the brush and getting completely caught off guard. Loved this film growing up
I think that's what makes the scene effective. It shows both the pointless nature of war, and demonstratets how brainwashed the ant-soldiers are. Very subersive stuff for a kid's film.
The ants go marching four by four hurrah, hurrah! They plan to send us a million more hurrah, hurrah! Crazy thing is, ant and termite colonies can do that.
@@tlipscomb6064 yea your right. First ever time in my life I have ever seen a huge ant colony which I could only guess numbered between 500,000 -10million it could have been more here in NZ. They were not facing an actual enemy but were pouring endless out from underground because of a flood we had recently here in part of NZ. I sat there for an hour and 20mins almost just to see when the end of the ants would stop. And then they scaled up dirt and rocks to higher ground. This was a profound experience for me and there HAD TO BE A LEADER or GENERAL amongst this huge colony of ants either the front or back of the pack. I was amazed at the highly intelligent movement structurr of this massive colony and I presume they were leaving there old home for a new.
Adonay Rocha Ikr? Love that part. The instrumental part and the "You'll find that there's a million more" fit for some reason. I replay that part a lot. Those lyrics sound powerful too. They work together and there's more coming. A million more
When I first heard this song as a kid, I wanted to continue it, it felt to short to just end it 3 by 3's (or in this case 4 by 4's, never heard that part as a child) soo.. What the hell, 25 years later lets just do this: The Antz go marching five by five Hurrah, Hurrah. The front of the line is where we thrive Hurrah, Hurrah (hmm'ing) The Antz go marching six by six Hurrah, Hurrah, HURRAH, HURRAH! We lose our arms, we'll beat em with kicks Hurrah, Hurrah (hmm'ing) The Antz go marching seven by seven Hurrah, Hurrah Once we win where off to heaven Hurrah, Hurrah (hmm"ing) The Antz go marching eight by eight Hurrah, Hurrah You''ll find no gaps, are form is great Hurrah, Hurrah, (hmm"ing) The Antz go marching nine by nine Hurrah, Hurrah. HURRAH, HURRAH! This is the front, where at the line Hurrah, Hurrah (hmm'ing) The Antz go marching Ten by Ten Hurrah, Hurrah This is the end, lets do it again Hurrah, Hurrah! HURRAH! HURRAH! (hmm'ing) (End) Feel free to sing along if you are bored :P Now....if i can just get john powell to spend a million dollars to compose the song this way....Anyone got a million dollars?
Not quite the entire army. There were a few forces loyal to general Mandible that he kept alive. That’s actually why he sent the soldiers here to the termite raid. They were loyal to the monarch so he sent them to die. While keeping forces loyal to him fresh and ready to fight if it came down to that.
Kasilyn Stevens What should be scaring you is the giant Termites and that one guy who lost his head "I can't fell my legs... Ohh wait, I can't fell anything!"
Kasilyn Stevens RobertAniFreak Still, as old as a movie may be, I don't think I even saw this one until the mid 2000's. Calling a movie old is naive. I mean look at Star Wars A New Hope. That was made a long time ago, but even if you watched it for the first time today, it would still be a great movie!
It's been nearly an entire decade since I watched this film... watching reviews of it again and listening to the soundtrack and watching different scenes on youtube... I never realized how dark and serious this movie was back then... and of course never realized that it had a score composed by Harry Gregson Williams (the guy who did parts of "The Rock" and CoD4...). I have to go back and watch this film I think :D
That one scene from the last of us (I forget which episode) where the bloater makes it’s only appearance while many infected are swarming from a burning house came to mind while listening to this.
I first watched this at an age that probably was a little young for this. Heck, I barely understood any of it. I just loved the fact that talking ants were on tv. That's probably why my parents weren't too worried about it.
The guard goes marching one by one hurrah! Hurrah! We slaughter xenos just for fun, Hurrah! Hurrah! The guard goes marching two by two hurrah! HURRAH! We'll all be dead before we're through HURRAH!
@MAXTHEASTARTES The song is based on 'When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again' and 'Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye', so you could look up instrumental versions of those songs.
What??? Thats not at all what world war 1 was like. It was calm, agonal, silent and pointless. The scene is based on Starship Troopers, which is a abreally graphic old sci fi war movie where humans fight giant space bugs.
@@noneedtoknow07 exactly, up until that point, war was romanticized and the young men thought it would be an adventure more then anything, and with the first world war, those old ideas died out
@@donaldsterling1631 World War 1 was not calm at all, wtf do you mean? Charges across No Man's Loud were chaotic and hectic, and cities were reduced to rubble after days of ear-splitting bombardment. Sheesh.
I had this on VHS 📼, my mom got it for me in 1999. I was born in 1992. When I saw 9/11 on tv in 2001. I was 4th grade in school. I recognized the world trade centres as the buildings on this cover. Weird... and sad 😞. Lest we forgot 9/11
