I had a smile on my face when I saw them. For the harsh conditions,they seemed to find a pretty good spot. No wind, some dry land. Not bad looking at the footage. Survivors indeed!

@@asterix00 oh yes! We have to report when they are in distress! There are unfortunately way too many strays here in PR. There is not enough space or resources for all of them. But, when they are in danger (and I suspect many are especially due to flooding) they need rescue. Unfortunately, even some of my neighbors do not have their pups in the house. 😔

Thank you for you kind words. I was in PA for Hugo. I am now in PR. It has exactly the same flavor as Hugo. Lots of water with intermittent winds...flooding and roofing failures. Almost identical!

I too experienced category 5 Hurricane Hugo in St.Croix USVI 🇻🇮and we didn’t really have any rain. Most of the island was burnt n nearly everything was destroyed.

@@Trtevoorryu Yeah, the problem is a very outdated grid. When Maria hit 5 years ago, there was funding made available, BUT it was contingent upon "repairing the existing grid" and no new upgrades could be made. Now, that is comical and preposterous at best...since they do not even MAKE the parts anymore!!! So, PR has been struggling to complete an outdated, makeshift grid. It is a money pit and someone needs to stand up and just admit it. Rolling blackouts are normal. Power is out on average 1x per week. With Fiona, we can expect weeks to months without power in many areas.

Many houses are not up to code. I am glad we have shelters open. Flooding is also a danger this time. I had a wooden roof when Maria struck. It was completely gone. Glad I evacuated and sought shelter when I did.

@@NicoleM2108 aren't majority of roofs built from wooden beams before the tiles/slates or roofing is added? Many homes are built from a cement or concrete structure. No matter how strong the structure, if the roof goes that's it. A hurricane, tornado, tsunami etc will always cause major damages.

@@kiliabrowne949 I am not sure if they are the majority, but there are plenty of them. They did start phasing them out though (you cannot get a mortgage of insurance with a wooden roof). Even so, another problem is even if the house is cement block or poured concrete, code was either non existent or not followed, so again, it "looks" sturdy, but may not be (too few rebar used, not the right mix of cement in the block...just not professionally done). The newer homes are by the book, but so many live in homes poorly done :(

They made me smile. They actually seemed to find a great place to take shelter. It was dry, no wind and seemed sturdy, like a deep underpass. they were very smart.
