The west side of Hurricane Ian definitely packed a punch this evening and during the nighttime hours. In this video I document a large boat in the process of capsizing, intercepting the west side of the eyewall during the nighttime hours, as well as structural damage around the city.

This storm chaser was taking a break when this boat appeared from the sea and landed right in front of him. It got stuck on power lines.

I don't know why people don't know how to take care of their belongings. Leaving a tied up boat exposed to all of that water, and wind is not right. There is nothing besides probably some ropes that are protecting the boat, and that is not good enough. 3 ideas come to my mind. 1. Owner/Captain tries to drive the boat OUT of a hurricane before it hits, and returns after hurricane is gone. 2. Owner/Captain takes boat out of water, and then move it away from hurricane on land then return it after hurricane is gone. 3. Give the boat to someone who knows how to take care of boats.

Maybe there was something wrong with the boat....to total it due to storm...well, depends on the intent of the owner 🤔
@plmn93
@plmn93 Год назад
Where are they going to take it when there are tens of thousands of other boats needing to do the same thing? You don't just pull a boat that size out of the water with your F-150 at the local boat launch. Should they prioritize their boat over their home and the safety of their family? The exact path of this storm wasn't known until the day it made landfall. The owners, if they had common sense, had probably already evacuated by the time they knew they would be hit directly. You make a lot of assumptions without considering the big picture or even rudimentary logistics.

@@plmn93 There are boats that can be lived in, or on, and can be considered as a home. I have been on a boat. I was a passenger on a boat, and I know what it's like to drive a boat. I have not gotten hurt yet, or died on a boat. There are people who have died, and gotten hurt by being on a boat, so I think it depends on who is on a boat. I did suggest 3 different ideas. Try reading my third idea. Maybe you don't have the ability to understand my third idea, and that is fine.
@plmn93
@plmn93 Год назад
@@knowledgeandmultiskilled In your third "option" who would you "give" it to? You would not, you would have to pay somebody dearly to take care of it and it is very unlikely there would be anybody available to do so with a hurricane on the way. You did not acknowledge my points and you obviously don't understand a thing about what boat ownership all entails regardless of being a passenger on one before. It's fine to speculate on things you know nothing about, it's not fine to pretend to be an expert in a vain attempt to disparage people who just lost something very valuable.
