So glad Nicole became an exciting and fun segment. When she first started on the show A LOT of people laughed at her weird explanations and Korean :( it was so awful! Those people were straight up mean to her, but she showed all of them by becoming the best segment of the game show :)
LOL this was so adorable makes me wanna watch all episodes she was in. I love how only Seungri and Tifanny didn't look flustered. Seungri laughing the whole time like "that's how people look at me"
Nicole Jung of KARA is younger than the youngest member of Girls' Generation, Seohyun. Nicole was only 17 yo while hosting this show but seems so composed and quick witted. She is undeniably next level intelligent and must wonder if she was raised in Los Angeles by a tiger mom.
Nicole and Jessica's interactions during this segment are always hilarious, since neither of them is a native Korean speaker. I speak Japanese decently well, but I can't imagine being very good at this in Japanese.
I see what she's doing. Nicole has a better command of Korean than Jessica. Although Jessica's Korean is proficient and her pronunciation is good, she doesn't understand Korean idioms and sayings so Nicole has to organize the Korean words into English ideas so Jessica can process them better.
Hara is my KARA bias but you can't deny that Nicole is the cutest thing ever omg. She's not native yet it looks like she's so good at explaining in Korean and I'm sure this segment helped her learn Korean. Nicole is perfff ah
Why is it only now that I've discovered this??? I was so into Star Golden Bell that I never came across this NICOLE LEVEL WITH ME 'till now thanks to my video searches of SBS Heroes where Nicole was at ;D Now, i'm gonna be Nicaddict!
Yea.... but she had too if she wanted to make a bigger impact on her own career... plus now she doesn't have share the songs with other people and focus can just be on her.
Because Nicole knows English, so she is more sensitive to alphabet letters. Korean can be written in alphabets but I think normal Koreans do not use it much. So people usually find it hard to understand Nicole as she tries to link words through the alphabets. Also is damn cute how Sooyoung was jolted by the alarm.
When I would watch this segment so many years ago, I didn't know Korean. Now that I've learned some Korean, I understand how she thinks about explaining things, and I feel like those that learned Korean as a second language would process the words the same way. What's amazing is that she is doing it so quickly.
If you'd like to know, the guests try to guess a phrase or word of some sort based on the topic given to them. Nicole breaks down the phrase into its letters and has them guess those letters and put it together. :)
4:23 u dont see that 'deer in the headlights' look from Taeyeon ever...she is always so confident...except when trying to figure out what Nicole is trying to say
