@@triptychz f2.8 is pretty damn fast on medium format. The 110mm F2.8 used in the video is the fastest lens Mamiya made for the RZ67 - everything else was f3.5 or higher. Lenses faster than f2.8 are very uncommon on medium format SLRs in general.
@@triptychz 2.8 is super fast on medium format. You’ll be hard pressed to find many medium format lenses that go wider than that. Next time just say you don’t know anything about photography.
sometimes the tools are over rated, light meter for cloudy photography is one of those things that you would hear about in LA and every agents tells you YOU NEED IT. The reality is production houses will sell ice to an Eskimo. Everyone gets antsy when you say you don't need this or that. but lets see who turn a profit first because this is a business after all, the guy who needs a $500 light meter to take a single photo or a guy who is familiar with camera science and color enough to save my movie, photoshoot, documentaries and all the productions in-between $500 from the first second i hire "him". Not to mention the time that would be wasted checking light levels with every new scene. Like im sure he's got a method to his madness but im seeing a whole lot of madness in this video.
But then he needs to shave his moustache off and that goes against all his morals of spending more money when he can save it. Hipsters are saving the economy of second hand goods. Without them how else are we gonna sell things we would otherwise throw in the trash?
Imagine walking around seeing this guy holding two cameras, I would’ve went up and said, hey buddy can I introduce you to capture card and look at his modernized 20th century technology and promptly walk away embarrassed
@@LP620 of course he can, but when you dress like that and post videos as he does he's leaving himself open to be judged by the world, he or you can't really help that fact it's just how things work
@asagk I'm in high-school, first off, so chill, I'm not perfect. And second, I only personally saw a zooming lens on it, not anything else, though, I could very much be wrong, as I am, as previously stated, a senior in high-school
@@lillyjammer26gamingandfursuits If you look at the camera lens while the photos are being taken, you will see a small "gap" at the outer end of the lens. This is the ring of the screw-on filter. Based on the transparency of the filter, which can be seen earlier in the video when paint was applied, you can see that the filter hardly or not at all reduces the incident light, and is therefore probably an ND 0.00 or ND 0.03. Personally, I think a Skylight would be a better choice, even though painting a Skylight filter is an expensive affair as it might damage the coating of the filter. And a little tip on the subject of filters: A camera lens should always have at least some filter screwed on for protection purposes, because damaging the coating on the lens glass itself would be very expensive. A cheap ND filter is completely sufficient. It is also popular to use a Skylight filter as a lens protector because it also reduces Rayleigh scattering.
@@lillyjammer26gamingandfursuits By the way, the "Mamiya Sekor Z 110mm 1:2.8" being used in the video is not a zoom lens, but a slight tele-lens commonly used for portrait and fashion photography, while the "normal lens" might be something like 80mm for medium format roll film cameras. Accordingly for a 35mm film the "normal focal length" would be 50mm and a slight tele-lens (common in portrait/fashion) would be around 80mm.
man, shut up if you don't understand anything. its on a cheap twist on filter also not a zoom lens, its the greatest prime ever made on any camera system
As a amateur photographer I respect your work and really love those vintage style photos from a vintage camera really really impressed and appreciate your work ❤❤
If you can make a video breaking down what each piece of equipment does, how the vintage film works and how the lens work on classic cameras it you get a lot of views.
This video is the clearest definition of what I would call "a hipster shit". It can´t get any more hipster than this. BUT...the camera is actually pretty sweet, the idea is great and the pictures look awesome.
@@drdocy Not even close. That's just software blur, and no you're not getting the tonal range of a freaking medium format 6x7 film on a tiny iPhone sensor.
Old photography was such a mood . The contemplation , the blurred people in the background captured but anonymously forgotten and one day breathing their last breath . Damn idk if life sucks or is amazing.
True, but modern photography allows everyone, young and old to pick up a camera and take a photo, then with practice, talent and a good eye, make gorgeous photos, with or without editing.
Photography is literally painting with light. If you want to be a professional, you don't choose old technology... I wonder why no one is masturbating to phosphorus flash light?
i love it that that posca marker wont actually make a filter but it will change the ratio XD its not like spreading a little color but u actually put a layer of paint that u wont be able to see true
@@pedrourbina9037 i know about those markers, that matt color that they have wont make a slight tint for a filter try it camera expert pls just try it buy a POSCA marker and try that
@@abdulmuqeet2253 its amusing that in a deep sea full of questions and words, you thought it was clever to ask this 😅 I dont understand why this is relevant.
Holy .... I see a lot of "street photographers" now on Insta and Tictok and honestly 90 percent of them are just guys with a camera but no skills. Seeing your vidoes took me back to when i first got amazed by photography❤❤. Everything you take is incredible😍.
Don't you get it? Me as a photographer sees, and knows how a photo should look like, when there is this "ink" drawed on the lens. It Looks totally different. :/ come on he draws something on the lens for more clicks 😢 on some photos you dont even see the sides where the ink colour is in the photos there are more withput the coloured lens
This shot on medium format, which means the photo naturally has a much shallower DOF, so the camera easily focuses past the blue. It's like how with a wide aperture you can easily take a photo with the camera against a fence and still get a vlear image. You get the tint of the colour but you don't get a sharp line where the colour is
You make a great job with your 67 Mamiya. The only now-days problem, at least on my side, is still the price of film and process (except for B/W that I process by my own, not so cheap but quite affordable even for amateur as I am). I love your Seconic meter. I use two old analog intruments: a Pentax Spotmeter and, for wide range reading a Sekonic Lunasix, both still good meters
@@luiginotcoolProbably the mustache, corduroy pants, and idk... going way out of the way to use old and odd techniques instead of conventional equipment. And filming the entire process. If the photos were great, it'd be warranted, but they are mediocre at best. Hence the pretentiousness
Не понимаю, откуда у вас под видео берётся столько выскочек, которым всё не нравится, и заголовки не те, и идеи, и результат. Потрясающие, очень качественные и креативные работы! 😍 Не обращайте внимания на глупый хейт 😌
Beautiful images but we don't need to see you winding film or taking your light meter out of its bag. Just show the DIY filter and the resulting images
Я ни разу не фотограф, но что-то мне подсказывает, что дело не столько в зеленом маркере на защитном стекле, сколько в хорошей аппаратуре, профессиональных качествах и художественнм видении снимающего.

here to see if anyone caught that his light meter said 5.6 but he's shooting at 2.8 ... goes to show you that you still need to use your instinct and knowledge. Great frames!
Presumably it was a very subtle ND filter that got ruined not the lens itself, hard to tell it's even there on most of the pictures too guessing because it seems like a paint pen so it's opaque and blocks light instead of adding a green hue like if it were translucent so the only way to really work with it is to have the subject far enough away to blur it in/out of the foreground
