What I love about this is it's clearly not a system that's up to your usual install quality, but you're still excited AF about working on it and helping to get it up and pumping -- the elite level systems are cool and all, but this is common-man stuff and cool to see too! My vote is definitely to keep it a budget system, maybe tidy up some of the hazardous parts and walk us through the why. Perhaps you could send the amp to barevids for a repair :)

There's videos of guys putting GM high output alternators into these things since they have happen to have identical mounting hole locations-plus, there's signal harness adapters available.

I recommend to get the CS144 Alternator upgrade I did it to my 2002 4runner and it helped a lot, it will go from 80 amps stock to 140 amps and you don't have to spend that much... I am running 3 amps JP23, JP8.4 and alpine PDX -F4 and it does the job.

I got a a 2000 4Runner on the same 2015 Tacoma 17 inch alloys on 33 inch Mickey Thompson tires lifted 5 inches ! Your looks similar! Mine an automatic though ! Yours is a 5 speed that R-150F trans is worth 3k all day by itself!!!

Right on Meade! I've got a 3rd gen 4runner I just built out a new system in. Love my yota. Have had it since it was new. I've put 8 different systems in it over all the years. I've got 2 custom Sundown XV2 12s and a 5k pushing them right now.

I have a 98 4Runner. 317k mi. still running strong. The original alternator lasted to 277k mi. Can't beat that!! I didn't want my amps to get stolen to I have both my amps under the seats. Best place for them!!

I had the 500w version. It lasted through hell and back and is still kicking. Judging by the squished wires. The previous owner probably blew it up and couldn’t figure it out himself and just took the subs out

Thing I like about Steve is he's so humble no matter how horrible the set up even as a pro audio dealer. others always bash it & make endless jokes (even if it's true) but some are either just learning or doing what they can with what they have. I've been there & it was a great learning experience. My new up coming build is now going to take me at least 6 months to complete & be to my liking, vs my first build which only took about 1 month a few blown fuses, low voltage, big subs, janky wiring, & $1500. 😅

Hook the amp up to your test bench. It may be a waste of time but you may find that the vehicle wiring is the cause and the amp is fine.

One of the output transistors have blown cant see it but test them with multimeter to see. And if it was power supply side you would be blowing fuses. Amd i would love to take this off your hands
