I used to watch the Thunder Boats on the lake 'Back in the Day' before turbines. In later years, I was once anchored across the bay in Kingston, watching the race on a little television....and could go up on deck and hear them....from a good few miles away. It was a time that is gone now....but i'll remember it the rest of my life. -Veteran '66-68

Got to love it...

The crazy thing is that I can’t understand why there isn’t a more Merlin and Allison powered boats with the V 12 because the engine is almost perfectly suited for this application where it at idols at 150 to 200 Rpm and the cruising speed was 2000 rpm So no need for gearbox just a Direct drive a big propeller and plenty of pitch.

That thing is a pos, garbage. Ain’t no good for racing…a stv with a 200/360 merc will do it way better than that heavy pos scrap in the front lol
