I was 9,when this great western series premeired, in 1968, I idolized, Johnny Lancer, im, almost 60, and I still think James Stacy, portrayed the coolest cowboy on any tv western series.
James Stacey had the coolest western clothes no other western star came close, his clothes his belts even his gun belt was cool, and he was easy on the eyes, most good looking l!
I was 10 and felt the same (still do). I'm 61 now and I find myself watching the Lancer videos more and more. Cant believe they're all gone now. Has that much time passed really......sometimes feels just like yesterday and I'm still a preteen in love with Johnny Madrid Lancer.
I wanted to marry James Stacy when I grew up...I was 10 and prayed every night to just get to meet him! I don't believe he molested anyone .. He was a sweet man. But had severe PTSD and he did ride around in his wheelchair and peeped at some teenagers down the road. The Judge just used him to set an example. If I had known that I would have been his pen pal...he truly suffered a hard life !! Still he was the Man. The Myth. The Legend!!!

Kimberly harding read that it was a jealous ex girlfriend that frame him he did not appear in court and had try to kill himself that's was why he went to prison the mother and daughter tried sue for money and the judge throw it out of court and said she know he did not molest the girl
I have loved Johnny Lancer (James Stacy) since the moment I ever laid eyes on him. I don't think there was ever another man on this earth I dreamed more of but maybe Peter Duel of Alias Smith & Jones. Thank you for sharing these series of Lancer. It brings back should beautiful memories and fantasies.
FANTASTIC !!!! THIS IS THE ONLY EPISODE OF THE "LANCER" TV SERIES THAT I EVER SAW BACK IN 1970. TODAY I HAVE JUST WATCHED IT FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE THEN. I ONLY REMEMBERED THE ENDING. I noticed that there's a glass of what appears to be milk on the dining room table, near Johnny's plate. Usually when we see milk in a Western, it's at breakfast or if there are children at the table.
THE ACTING IN THIS EPISODE, WAS VERY GOOD. BARRY WMS. PLAYED A VERY PASSIONATE ROLE AS A YOUNG MAN NEEDING THE HOPE OF A FATHER TO WANT TO & GET TO KNOW HIM AS HIS SON. THE FATHER KNOWS THE EXISTANCE OF HIS SON, BUT HIS LIFESTYLE IS NOT A GOOD ENVIRONMENT. HE WANTS HIS SON TO NOT IDOLIZE HIS BANK_ROBBING & HIS OUTLAW WAYS. SCOTT & MURDOCH WANTS BEN TO GROW UP A GOOD BOY, WITH THE RIGHT MORALS. HIS FATHER WORKS WITH MURDOCH TO DEIDOLIZE BEN ABOUT HIS OUTLAW FATHER. BY DOING THIS, HE KNOWS BEN WILL GROW UP RIGHT. HE GETS ONE LAST LOOK AT HIS SON, BEFORE HE DIES. True tragic ending for what would have been an acting legend. James Stacey, motorcycle ruined him and then pain meds finished him. Truly a sad sad story.
YES THANK YOU! I THINK THIS EPISODE ALSO FEATURED A LITTLE OF WHAT JOHNNY LANCER FELT WHEN HE TOLD SCOTT IN THE PIOLIT OF THE "HIGHRIDERS" ABOUT HIS FATHER GIVING HIS MOTHER THE KEYS TO THE ROAD, & DON'T FORGET TO TAKE "BUSTER". HE KNEW HE HAD KIN, BUT COULD NOT UNDERSTAND THAT THE KIN DID NOT NEED OR WANT HIM. EVEN THOUGH THAT WAS FOUND LATER ON NOT TO BE TRUE. ( THIS STORY SHOWS EVERYONE THAT EVERYBODY NEEDS SOMEBODY SOMETIMES.)
@@barbarawhite2928 & others: I'm pretty new to Lancer and am still working my way through the episodes; I've seen about half of them so far. Do we ever learn exactly what story Maria told Johnny about how and why she'd parted from Murdoch? I know Teresa told him at some point that Maria had run off with another man - a gambler - but I wonder exactly what story Johnny grew up hearing. Did they really leave it as a simple "Hit the road, and take Buster here with you?" Surely she must have told him more. For that matter, do we ever learn how and when Mama Maria "Madrid" died? I haven't heard much of anything about Johnny's childhood yet. The only clues I've seen have been in "The Kid" when he talks, briefly and rather vaguely, about why he became a gunfighter.
Much nicer in b/w Colour ruins the true western film.I was 8 when i watched at my grandmother's when this came out...she turned me on to western and late night movies...

Did you watch the 1st episode, explaining how Johnny's mother ran off with him & another man and the Season 2 episode "Legacy" about Scott's powerful grandfather threatening Murdoch if he tried to take 5 year old Scott away? Murdoch thought he was doing right by Scott. Both episodes will explain a lot of the series reasoning.
I've seen worse, but it's about 35 minutes of action stretched into 50 minutes. Long pauses during dialogue, repeating lines, establishing shots, etc. We see the sheriff explaining where he wants each individual deputy positioned in town while they wait, then we watch them all get into position. It's all about padding the run time. This is the first ep I've seen, so...
