So I got Gundam The End at A-Kon this year because my friend was helping me select Gunpla to get. He thought it looked cool and I probably wasn't going to have another chance to grab him for cheap. So I grabbed him, and Amazing Red Warrior, just cause. Funny thing is, we were at the hotel room for a while and would be because of how much it was a hassle to get from it to the convention hotel. So for the next couple of hours I had started making The End in my hotel room, because why not? And I had my tools on standby anyway. The stickers were annoying but the overall build was fun to do.
thank you for taking the time to paint it for the review, as you said, "its a task in of it's self." and as a fan I wanted to let you know that your work doesn't go under appreciated.
I agree. This is my favorite "Build Fighters: Try" mobile suit. I doubt it would happen, but can you imagine what it would be like if they did a Master Grade version of this? =)
You can use a thin saw to seperate the fingers very easily and it really enhances it. I know there's a lot of issues with this guy but between it being generally solid and savagely weird it became one of my absolute favorites.
Denial is definitely like top 3 releases of both seasons, and I'm pretty sure you'll love it! Just one thing though, do NOT cut off that little piece sticking out of the balljoint that goes into the head.
I loved build fighters, The End was one of my favorite designs and I'm pretty happy with the kit. It looks weird, and I like it because of that. I'm actually planning to display it with the baby Unicorn attached to its stomach.
If nothing else, you can say this: this is a kit that stands out on the shelf as being unlike most other kits. I quite love the huge pistols and fetal Unicorn, with the gundam heads. It makes this look like if a Gundam was infected by The Thing or a xenomorph.
Hi TypeV3, thank you for doing the size comparison with the Lightning Z. Looks good together, but I thought the Gundam The End should be taller according to their specs. I will begin unboxing mine and start building them soon.
Things I would do to this kit to make it way better is cut in between those yellow fingers on the big hands to make each finger articulated, since theyre connected at the palm and knuckle, they can support themselves individually. Its like what you do to MG hands. The other thing is custom install two swing hinges for the chest to be able to open and close. But I'd mainly do the individual fingers as its really possible.
I don’t have any Gundams right now, but I ordered one and it should come on Friday. If I get another Gundam it’ll probably be this guy. Idk anything about Gundam fiction but the design is really cool.
I really like how you put those teasers at the end of the video, like the one after Zaku Origins, You talked about being revived, and thats obviously RX-78-2 Revive, and now you also teased Denial, those alone just makes me keep coming back for more! Subscribing is really worth it.
+MoChan.Official Those little puns? Yea. I think it's pretty interesting that he does this and I'm sure he has to sit there for a few moments to think of a good way to segue into them to hint at the next review.
Despite all of the technically poor aspects of this kit it's one of my absolute favorites for all the sheer weirdness, probably going to be my first venture into painting.
I only got this kit when I was browsing through Amazon. It looked like a cool design and this would've been my first kit in years. Not a fan of the pink stickers on the raised areas, but you bring up a great point of painting bright colors on dark plastic. Thanks for the video!
+Shawn T In regards to the issue of dark plastic and painting bright colors... What you need to to to "fix" it is by priming the part in white or gray a few layers until you cannot/barely see the black. Then you would mask off the areas that need to be pink or whatever colors, spray the black, let it dry, mask off the black painted sections and then spray it pink. The problem comes with the more intricate detail sections like the shoulder which I guess you could do via hand brushing?
It's basically a reborn Devil Gundam and it has some references from the Devil Gundam itself the pilot's personality is like he's being manipulated the faces from it's palms obviously resemble the Gundam Heads and in the anime when it's flying the particles are possibly DG cells being spread out.
I agree that Gundam design is weird but in a cool way. What you did on the Unicorn fetus was awesome I liked the weathering you did and the red cloth cape... Badass.
I _can't_ be the only one distracted by the fact that the Ikkaku is, well, _not_ single horned. Can I? On a side note, I imagine it'd be worthwhile to attempt separating the large claws by way of an x-acto knife, seeing as each finger as its own ball joint to connect to the hand/head... Though I imagine it might lose something in some more dynamic poses if the joint's too loose.
So first whoever thinks he is a combo of death and devil (dark or whatever name you know the dg cell producing villan of g gundam) you are exactly spot on. That is actually in the build book in fact. 2nd love using him for my custom hg builds. It just adds that bit of originality and oddity that makes it fun... But sadly like the man said if you are a fan boy of gundam the end pray an mg veraion one day happens
Was waiting for this review and kept checking for updates.. Anyway, bought my The End last friday and so far.. Im impressed with the articulation and the stability of the model.. Painted the claws red and the only disappointment i have is it lacks pink stickers on the ankle guard..
I think it is based on gundam legilis from gundam age. Because the kits is a bit taller same as the gundam legilis also taller hg kits and that body part that open into mouth that is also the same as gundam legilis but gundam legilis has that weird gimmick where the head and the backpack can be remove together. Has the same wing design. The body part that is open into mouth design is kind a like a shield from legilis gundam. Based gundam legilis + DS wing + master gundam + devil gundam. Maybe. And that mini unicorn thing. .
I always enjoy your closing remarks when it comes to Gunpla reviews. Thank you for shedding more light on Gundam The End. To tell the truth, after its name was revealed, I couldn't help but think about how this big monster would fair against the LFO Nirvash typeTheEND (from Euerka Seven) if the former was a full-sized Gundam Although you covered the model pretty well, how come you didn't display the Gundam in its "FULL MONSTER MODE" (eye shoulders, gaping jaw, etc.), if you catch my drift? Also, how did you manage to get the right shade of pink paint? Did you mix the colors of Gundam paint markers (red and white) or go for the metallic paints?
I love this kits it's the most unique next to tryon 3 in the series.the end and Saga adou were monsters and in my opinion deserve more screen time then it's rival the lightning zeta.
Did a fist pump when i heard that the next gunpla review might be Denial. Woop woop, I sure hope it is! Another weathering question: what type of paint do you use? oil base, acrylic or enamel??
Great review. I personally love The End in the anime and like you was kinda let down as a fanboy by the kit. Not by much though. Also a good tip for painting bright colors onto dark plastic is to first lay down a coat of silver leaf paint, it applies easily onto dark colors and can be painted over with little to no bleed through of the silver. Also as a last note the lower "Jaw" piece on the torso was upside down in your video. (just a heads up) Can't wait for the next review!
to achieve that almost shimmer effect on a lot of the kits you paint, are you using metallics? gloss coat? if you could gimme a quick painting rundown that would be amazing. thanks!
So let me get this straight. This is a gundam, that has a fesignthatd make most people jealous, has two revolvers, a badass red cape, two giant hands that have bigger versions of its face, and can have a robot fetus version of the unicron gundam that comes out of the ends chest mouth.... HOW IS THIS NOT THE GREATEST IDEA EVER!?
conceptually I think the end is really interesting but I really don't like the head or the giant hands :( but that's just me. this was a great review :)
was thinking of a custom with this and the gundam deathscythe and the gundam unicorn. using the unicorn v fin and arms and legs then using the deathscther wings and head. painting alot of it black and red painting the psycho frame a uv red so it glows along with some other colors not sure what
I'm considering buying this kit, but there's one more lingering question in my mind: has anyone tried separating the giant fingers from one another? You know, those 4 large fingers on each of the gundam-faced hands?
hello. my name is Joseph, I started building Gundams about some months ago. I've done some HG models but it felt kind of empty. but right now I'm starting the RG models, I've already done Wing EW, and I'm getting Red Frame Astray pretty soon, but which RG model kit would you recommend in case of stance and weaponry, I like them all but Zaku's are something my bro does. I'm all Gundams models so could you please help me sincerely, J. Kingusu
i love this gunpla its y all time fave fromt he build fighters try and was my first model kit from the try fighter series i dont mind about the non anime accuracy only compliant i had for it was no die fangs thanks for the review tho ^^
+Sean Alexis Roque If you live in the US, some of the better places: - Amazon --> though I don't shop with them at all anymore; not a fan of their customer service - Gundam Planet (east coast) - Image Anime (east coast) - GG Infinite (west coast) --> though they rarely restock but have a ton of new kits when released - Tatsu Hobby (west coast) - Model Grade (west coast) - Hobby Wave - eBay - Gundam Store & More --> though they rarely restock ever And then if you want to import, pretty much the only good places are: - Hobby Link Japan - Ami Ami - Hobby Search
Sean Alexis Roque They're all great. But FYI. I have the Lightning Gundam HG for sale super cheap on my eBay store (charlie.i.kim629 is my eBay user name there).
How is the articulation of the mini unicorn? I would like to buy that mini unicorn alone and plug it on the Puchi Guy as a stand. Any JoJo fans out there?
+aznable1000 the mini unicorn is only avaliable with The End,its articulation is quite good, however the connection from the mini unicorn to the end uses a balljoint polycap on both sides, but im sure you'll work something out
By the way Type V3.. I forgot if I saw a Denial Gundam review from you because was searching all your reviews for one.. If not, hope u have a review on that..
