I have a little hand hammer - an 6in, 8oz stubby ball peen from Harbor Freight, I don't know if that store exists over in the UK - but I've got more use out of that tiny hand sized hammer than you would every believe, and it looks like it would be just about right for what you're doing. They retail for $3 over here.
