It does in england. The government will give you 30 - 50% off if you are a first time buyer. Theres a few eligibility requirements but they're not too bad.

Although Mark may have some good advice please do not think it is this easy. You don’t get a 50% discount, the house sells at the full price, and usually at a premium (as these will be new builds, and only if the developer offers the home under the scheme Mark mentions) you then have to apply to the government/local authority for them to buy 50% of the property and you mortgage the rest, that’s if you are successful against other buyers as competition is high due to so few houses under the scheme. The homes are usually reserved for key workers eg Police/fire/medical and only in England, not the whole UK. There has only been 100 houses sold under the scheme since June 2021 and they expect another 1,500 to be made available during 2022….which really is next to nothing. When you sell the house it remains under the scheme in which you bought it, so you only sell your 50%. The idea in principle is good, but your not getting a super deal, that’s if you can get one at all.
