It's definitely true, you gotta be fast. And also some times items have a slight longer time frame. I don't understand why people are so skeptical of these events happening in the trials there are many players and video proof, just because you can't get what your trying to obtain or you haven't seen it happen doesn't mean it isn't a fact. It's definitely a timing thing. Your just not fast enough or it just may not be your thing to cheese the game, so you haven't done enough testing actually taking the time to actually try for yourself. In this vid you tested it for a few seconds without actually taking the time and effort to really do it. It's really a timing thing. Plus it may actually be different between Java and bedrock, I play bedrock. So it just might not be a thing on Java same thing for bedrock drowning All zombies makes them drop their trimmed diamond chest and helm and also swords. Some keep saying just the baby Zeds.

@@joelpierce1453 I’ve gotten it 4 times using this method. I’m successful every 5th attempt or so. That’s beyond coincidence.

I’ll preface this with 2 caveats: 1. I’ve done no testing myself (I’m waiting for my friend to be free before we do trials on our world so I haven’t even opened a single vault) 2. Toycat’s testing was highly flawed, relying on his own reaction time and having a very small sample size. To rigorously test this, let’s say for the regular vault, I would want a MINIMUM of 480 trials (lowest chance drop is the trident at 1 in 48 and for statistical math we need to expect at least 10 successes of each - we don’t actually have to get those 10, we just need to expect them). Next, instead of trying to get any given item, we just wait until the item changes and immediately put the key in - recording of course. This would allow us to test every item while removing the human reaction time to realize it’s the item you want. This would also allow us to test toycat’s claim that the animation changes the moment you put a key in. After EACH trial we would need to record to loot dropped and connect that data to the recording of that trial. Overall we would expect a loot distribution very close to the average but since we recorded each trial independently, we could test whether the shown loot has any effect on the dropped loot. This might even show something unexpected (maybe the best way to get an ominous bottle is to insert the key when we see a trident)

I can’t even perform an observational study on it because the vast majority of the videos will be biased to show more successes. If you can point me to a rigorous statistical test of it, that would be great. 2 other things. He is playing bedrock so his testing is slightly applicable to your version of the game, but I’ve also explained why his testing is not very convincing in my other comment. The other thing is that the number of players with videos of this is actually not evidence of it at all because none (or at least very few) were done with rigorous testing methods in mind and so are likely biased to upload more videos of successes than failures. Given how many people play the game it is not surprising at all that some people could come across this by coincidence. I’m not saying it is nothing more than coincidence, just that, statistically speaking, it could be and I’ve not seen any rigorous evidence either way.
