Hi Ray - lots to unpack here! First of all thanks for watching. Sounds like we are of a mind. Regarding the fuselage thinning process, I can offer a few tips. The first is: go slow and above all remember it’s just a piece of plastic and not the Hope Diamond. Styrene is actually a very forgiving medium - thin cement and sheet styrene can fix a world of goofs, I make plenty of those. Milling on the XY table saves some time but with care and patience it all can be done by hand, with a dremel & sanding sticks. Patience is of course the key word here but think of it as a secret weapon. A thickness gauge like I show is crucial, just keep marking the high spots with a pencil and keep grinding until you get there. My original plan was to simply thin the fuselage walls and replace the longerons etc with stock styrene strips and so on- and I’m certain this approach is eminently doable, but I think I’ll get possibly better results with the direction I’ve chosen and anyway, it’s a fun experiment to see just how thin I can print the replacement walls to be applied inside. So far so good. Anyway do appreciate the comments and I wish you luck with your project! -Bo

Thanks for watching. And yes, not random! Instead, drawn up and overseen by some minor bureaucracy within the RAF. In the factories they used mats to mask the colors, of the which the edges apparently did wear out, giving a small degree of randomness…
