I really like James Stacy’s inflection when he delivered his lines. He gave Johnny a very quiet and understated confidence. Kind of musical in his delivery.
Love him in this green shirt! He also wears it in "Splinter's Group". Favorite shirt is the blue one he wears often. But this green shirt really makes his hair and eyes pop!!

Debi, at first I thought it was the same shirt, but Scott's buttoned all the way down whereas Johnny's is a pull over type. Definitely two different shirts, but same color.
@@debrarick9617 Johnny wore that green shirt again in "Splinter's Group". In "Blind Man's Bluff" the silky beige shirt he wears was the one and only time he wears it. It was very much a 60s style shirt.

I LOVED THIS EPISODE, BECAUSE IN THIS ONE THE MEASURE OF A MAN IN MY OPINOIN, WAS JOHNNY LANCER. WITH LINES, LIKE MADAME I THINK YOU SHOULD TAKE UP THE LINES, YOU NEED TO REDO IT, BECAUSE IT'S LIKE GETTING THROWN OFF A HORSE OR GETTING KNOCK DOWN IN YOUR FIRST FIGHT. HE BELIEVES IN HIS CONVICTIONS, BUT HE IS SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW YOU NEED TO HEAL, FIRST BEFORE YOU TRY IT AGAIN. JOHNNY BALKS AT HELPING TO TEACH THE KIDS, BECAUSE HE SAIDS THAT SOME OF THE KIDS HAVE MORE SCHOOLING THAN HIM. BUT EVEN THOUGH HE IS BEING TAUGHT BY CATHA, JOHNNY'S OWN UNIQUE STYLE WITH THE KIDS SHINES BRIGHTLY. HE FINDS RESISTANCE FROM BRATS TURK & TODD, ESPIECALLY TURK. WHEN TURK FIRES OFF THAT HIS FATHER SAYS THAT NO MUSTANGER HAS TO KNOW HOW TO READ. JOHNNY FIRES BACK, WITH I WOULD BE MIGHTY EMBRASS TO KNOW IF THE WORDS ON A POSTER MEANT HE WAS RUNNING FOR OFFICE OR FROM THE LAW. MURDOCH IS PROUD WHEN HE FINDS JOHNNY TEACHING SCHOOL. JOHNNY LANCER IS TOUGH, BUT COOL UNDER PRESSURE. 38:22 DAMMIT, if the copier of the broadcast print of this episode didn't 'pull the black' (i.e., the scant few seconds of blank, black footage between acts indicating / allowing insertion of the commercials) TOO SHORT, TOO QUICK. The set-up; viewers are emotionally caught up with Julie Sommars being caught up with her emotions, her feelings about Johnny as she puts each letter of his name on her classroom's chalkboard, JUST as the music was coming to a close it ended with one, very effective soft, distinct hit of the base drum. But, 'whoever' cut the initial black frames of the slow fade-out ON WHICH THE SOUND TRACK was continuing. WHAT were they thinking?! ed. - they weren't thinking at all. The result is there's a JUMP immediately into Act IV -- not even coming up via a 'fade in' from black -- and its totally different music cue that destroys the intended emotion that was originally played out with the 'fade to black.' FYI Half a century ago 20th Century Fox Television would deliver to CBS two 35 mm air and two 16 mm 'back-up' air prints of each "Lancer" episode -- a set each for transmission out of NY and L.A. There the black would be about 63 seconds, allowing CBS's editors to insert one 60-second or two 30-second national commercials; the remaining second or two or three would allow for a smooth fade out and fade in. Sometimes this chore was done at the studio end. If a print was being shown to a potential advertiser, for instance, those 60 - 63 second black holes would be edited OUT so the presentation would be seamless. Hence the term: 'pull black.' . . . A few years later when "Lancer" goes into syndication 20th orders dozens of duplicate 16 mm prints of each episode that are then supplied to local stations that purchased "Lancer." However, those prints have an extremely shortened three to five seconds of black with white letters spelling out 'Place Commercial Here.' Most of these RU-vid prints come from syndication copies, so in those circumstances the three to five seconds of black reading 'Place Commercial Here' are excised USUALLY CAREFULLY to maintain both video AND audio fade-in and fade-out perspectives. . . . Now with everything being digital, the procedures are less labor intensive. TMI.
Johnny has a nasty habit of standing around letting other people get beaten. There's no excuse for it, regardless of what he says to defend himself. This is a loathsome episode.
