Home fans are always quieter, that's true everywhere. And times on Thursday Villa Park was bouncing. British clubs don't have pre-arranged routines, it's all organic noise, and genuine reaction to the ebb and flow of a game. For example in contrast Ajax fans were amazing, but half the time it felt like they weren't even watching the game. Lille fans were a bit more in tune with the game, but confident Villa away fans are gonna be making alot of noise on the away leg.

We don’t do cheerleading at Villa Park mate, they have a guy at the front directing… looks good but artificial

Personally, I think the tie is balanced on a tightrope and next week will be very tense for us Villa fans. Lille are a very good team and were a match for us on the night. But for Emi Martinez, Lille probably would have earned a draw and we couldn’t have complained. We’ll need to score first next week. The Lille fans also sang throughout the game and created a great atmosphere - respect! Our travelling support will need to do the same for our team next week if we’re going to progress. 💜💙
