We’re in the home stretch! Painting is more or less complete so here’s an update showing what has been done and the few things that are left. #startrek #enterprise #tos #modelbuilder
You do great work. You're giving ideas for my build. The bridge, I personally perfer it to be as intended. We being Earth bound and driving motor vehicles, we for getting the lack of gravity in space. The sense of direction is nonexistent out there. The unside registration numbers, I have always seen them facing different directions.
I appreciate it! That’s totally true, I enjoy the debates about the ship. It keeps it fun. The registries on the bottom were a complete mistake on my part but it doesn’t bother me too much. Good luck with your build! Are you doing the series version?
The front of the Nacells - the revolving cones. Shouldn't they revolve in the same direction? Other than that - you have done an Excellent job! This is terrific! 👍👍👏👏
Thank you!! It’s pretty cool, they revolve in opposite directions, the designers did it that way to mimic the propellers of the p-38 lightning. On the plane they roll in opposite directions to reverse the counter rotation and keep the plane level.
I have mixed feelings about gridlines on the TOS Enterprise. But I will say that this is a tastefully done application of them. Love the moving bussard collectors.
I totally understand why some people don’t like them, I just like how it breaks up the hull a little bit and adds some dimension. The key is to definitely make them subtle! Thank you for checking it out!
Wow! Absolutely beautiful! The paint job and weathering are perfect. The rust ring is my favorite detail and you made that look perfect as well. Really excellent job on this! 😁👍
Looks pretty sharp. Don't really agree with the bridge being put in wrong. As the elevator was in the far back and the bridge actually set at an angle.
Fabulous! Can't wait to see it all together. What colors did you use for the impulse engine housing? Also, the raised strip that stretches from the impulse engines towards the bridge across the saucer section... did you use a different color for that than the impulse engine housing? It is hard to tell, but they look like different shades of gray. Also, the coolant fins on the nacelles also appear to be a sort of light gray. Is that the same color as the raised strip on the saucer? Terrific job. Keep on Trekkin'!
Thank you so much!!!! So the accents were done with a Vallejo paint, Medium Grey with a small dab of white to bring it up a Lilly bit. I did go over everything with a very light dusting of the base coat even everything out so they probably have very slight differences depending on how much was put on. I just kind of do that by eye. Good luck with your build!!
It doesn't have to line up with the lift shaft, the turbo lift is capable of moving vertical as well as horizontal. And if you look at footage from TOS The Cage, and The Menagerie, when the camera zooms into the Enterprise bridge, you'll see the bridge is oriented forward i.pinimg.com/originals/31/b8/c2/31b8c24d9ea77bc3d250631074f873e0.jpg
You have done an absolutely EXCELLENT job young man. The paint job is right on! I can't say enough good things about your work then what has already been said.
I like that you oriented the bridge facing forward. Whoever came up with the idea that the turbo lift first moves laterally, then down the apparent "tube" aft of the bridge is a genius and solves a definite aesthetic problem. I always hated turning the bridge to line up the turbo lift with that shaft. But as we can see, there is more room under that deck 1 bubble.
I have always held that the bulge behind the communications post is 2 turbolift cars. There always needs to be one available for the Captain or 1st officer.
