Very nice job on that. One small point. Those slots on the upper wings are not exhaust ports but airflow vents. The air bkasting out actually keeps the area aft of the vent much cleaner than the rest of the upper wing. There are good photos of this online. I have 3 of this kit, plus the HKM 1/48 B-17F kit. All on my 'to do' pile, currently.
Woah! I definitely wanna get this one day. I'm new to modeling but this B17 caught my eye. The fact that you can rotate the turrets and everything alone makes me want it. Looks so massive, and loved the finished product, so great job!
Hello mr.res.i build a revell b17 in1997@the age of 13.and i was so so very proud finishing it.and put it on display.with sticky greetings. Your modellmate.christian
Thanks for sharing your truly nice build. Fun fact: the B-17 skins were mostly "lap" joined, not butted. Therefore, raised panel joints are appropriate. Serendipity strikes again!
Amazing that they can keep the moulds for this kit going so well. I first built this in 1983 if I recall correctly. Wonder if they retooled it since. BTW it came with that diorama sheet way back then. I remember as the modeler hand painted a Chow Hound on the back of one of the crewmembers Bomber Jacket.
That sir was a truly outstanding build and paint job on the B-17, one aircraft I would like to build, but lack of room stops that, the WWII US bombers just looked big a tougj, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia.
Nice work. Your best yet. Next time try using ultra thin CA glue applied with a toothpick and sanded with 400 then 600, 800 and finally 1500 for better results filling seams. Enjoyed the video.
Well I had a prolonged delay in this build. But I'm just getting started back on it. Fuselage and wings are assembled. Getting ready to start painting it.
It depends on what paint you use, but I didn't. Vellejo sticks pretty good. Just be sure if your not using a gloss coat to clean up your lines before they dry to be sure it won't pull up any paint.
BTW I liked how you painted the engines. So I went back and followed your lead. I like the way they look I had originally painted the cylinders a bit more darker than yours. so I added more silver and painted the center piece the same color that you did. I was going to use copper.
Great build! They look good! But, do you think you could do something about the music? Maybe try sound leveling! You turn up the volume to hear what you are saying and get blasted by loud music! Thanks! 🙂
Very nice built! I did build the vintage Monogram 1/48 scale B-17 (basically the same kit, including the diorama instruction sheet ru-vid.comPo10RkS_ljw?feature=share) but your kit turned out much better than mine! 😊
I actually think I put the landing gear on backwards. So I had to modify it to change. But if you put the landing gear on right you don't have to do anything
