I am in the process of building this model and am seeking advice. When building the masts did you glue the main to the lower mast and topmast when putting them together or leave till later. I can find no advice on this in the instructions and the only reference to gluing the mast and that is when attaching them to the lower deck when the rigging starts. Thanks for any tips you can give me
@@Johnbuildsiconic Thanks for that info, I retired 8 years ago and rediscoverd this in the attic, I didn't have time to build it back then. It is my first build and I am now coming to the rigging and will have to sort out the masts Once again thanks
After a bout of the covid am back building the model and am stuck on how to attach the shrouds to the top of the mizzen mast, there are no instructions given and any hints if you can remember would be appreciated, thank you
i have this ship sitting in my loft waiting to be built, i will need to replace deck planks etc but i will not have the open side. im currently deep into my deagostini victory so it will have to wait a bit longer, but it will get built. good luck with the restoration
Copper cladding would help the hull John and really make it pop again. Caldercraft do a good and inexpensive cladding tile. 100 in a pack and perfect size too for 1/48. : )
@@Johnbuildsiconic Yes they are actually 1/72 scale 17 mm x 6.5 mm x 0.15 mm. I used them on my 1/50 Bounty and they look fine. They mark very easily what with using glues etc so I resprayed mine with a DIY Rust-oleam Metallic brilliant finish copper. You could then weather it depending on your taste. I used Super Phatic glue which is very thin and sets quickly. This was my first kit too and the results are quite good. Good luck with it John, all the best. : )
