The M1 Abrams is a third-generation American main battle tank designed by Chrysler and named for General Creighton Abrams. Conceived for modern armored ground warfare and now one of the heaviest tanks in service at nearly 68 short tons (almost 62 metric tons), it introduced several innovative features.

This is one of the most detailed kits I've ever bought.... I did not get the base in my box??!

The base is not included in this kit. I recycled it from an old Trumpeter kit and just kept it inside the Flyhawk box.

You can use a wash for general coverage to help the details stand out so direction of strokes doesn't matter. Afterwards you can apply another wash or other weathering stuff and clean it up using in the direction you want. For example the side skirts of the tank, I was cleaning off the wash in a downward motion to simulate streaks.
