I really like your series of videos on your projects. I think that a 1/4 scale sprint car using the Stinger 609 would be so amazing and true to life. It would seem like it would be a perfect fit. Keep up the good work.
To - @cj15941 I did these videos last Aug/Sept. Don't do any editing, I try to film in a way so I don't need to edit. I have half of part 4 done, then got back into the 1/4 scale digger project.
oh man, every time you hear that noise at the end of any one of rcwizzard's videos, you know your in for the long haul until the next part. Can wait for it though!
Do the longer bars first, if you file to much you can use on a shorter piece. That's really the only trick, you've got to move slowly, file a little at a time and check the fit often, sometimes one pass of the file is all that's needed for that final fit. Good luck!!
If you have a small vice, clamp the tube lightly and just below the top edge of the vice, the file will be centered on the tube providing you are using the same size file as the tubing. You can cut a couple of pieces of angled aluminum to protect the vice jaws as well, hope this helps
To - @antxmod12322 I see, I think 1/4 inch tubing on a 1/16 or 1/18 scale would look out of proportion. What if you use 1/8 inch music or piano wire which is solid rod?
Since each piece you cut needs to be filed to fit onto its round counter part, a Dremel should work fine. Sometimes I use a mini pipe cutter for a clean cut.
To - @stonecoldtrk You could call the Sprint Car "project therapy" for the Digger. I've wanted to do a sprint car like this for a long time, before I started the Grave Digger project.
@rcWizzard Well I guess you have a car to build! I know Conley has a Cobra but you could make one without to much trouble I guess.. (Idea: Quick detach engine mounts so you can use that engine in multiple vehicles..) Good luck finishing the digger!
Ah ok I was wondering lol. You do some extreme quality work on your videos and on your builds so I was wondering. Keep up the amazing work and videos please!
Looking good! Do you do a bunch of video footage at one time and then edit it over the next month to post it? How much is actually done to this project that you haven't posted video of yet?
Tires - not sure yet. Body - I have an unpainted Big Boy Toys body, or I may make a wood mold and vacuum form one. Rear - A diff from a Kyosho Gas Beetle. Or I may try to make a scale rear end.
Yeah that's what I've been doing, if I get em too short. I'm gonna try to set something up with a vise and secure my Dremel. See if I can't get something like that to work.
Could you build the whole chassis out of 1/4 in 0.065" wall brass tubing without it kinking while bending? Also I see that you changed to a bigger soldering iron but would a 400 watt one do the job good enough?
I would like to start a project like this with the soldered brass. So I have solder, soldering iron, need to get a tube bender and brass tubing also the 1/4" file. I'm just wondering how you cut the brass tubing to the size you need? I have a dremel but i don't know if that's the appropriate tool.
Do you have a trick/tip on getting the fish mouths lined even on each bar? I can't think of anything else to try and I keep wasting material because I struggle to get each end's notch aligned well. Thanks.
You should have done a dirt modified;) but I like sprint cars to, I really would like to see a Conley motor in this open wheeled beast and if you could get another Conley motor ask that mr Conley for a bigger cam
Hey Kevin, What wheels are you going with? or are you making your own??... You need to see my 1/10th scale Coyote sprint car with tecnacraft wheels....;)
How much longer till the 609 is back I have been waiting for a very long time for your awesome truck to be 100% done. I have shown many people what you have done so far and there first words are mostly profanities such as f*#k and s*#t that's awesome as mine were when I first saw what you had done.
@samoboiinnit It's called an accent. I pronounce it shassee (I'm british), most American's seem to call it chassee from what I've seen and heard. I don't know where rcWhizz is from, but he says it another way. Big deal. Americans call pants, underwear and trousers, pants.
@rcWizzard - Well, It depends on what your into.. Like cars, trucks, suvs, muscle cars etc.. If I could come even close to the skill you have I would make a dodge diesel replica of my truck :D
