Honestly, I do believe that the Kalos's rivals are underrated. They are representing the different ways to play the Pokemon games: - Serena/Calem: Competitive players. They only care about power. - Tierno: Funny challenge run. He represents the players that play the games with a challenge, things like doing a Nuzlocke or using only one type and the like. - Trevor: Gotta Catch 'Em All. - Shauna: Casual player. She only wants to have fun and nothing else.
I totally agree, the fans always think rivals must be always strong, Kalos has a serious rival, if we had just one rival who was bad at battles, then I'd understand, but we don't I love Trevor because he's very interested in completing the Dex entries and learn about them, if they just added the motivation to make him Sycamore's assistant as they did with Bianca or Hop with Juniper & Sonia, could've been perfect Shauna is very interesting too, she just want to make friends and enjoy with them into the adventure, trying to find herself Tierno needed something else, like a side event, if they kept something similar to Pokémon contests, musicals or anything like that, Tierno would have been our tutor
it's funny how i've seen people say the sword and shield characters have no character... meanwhile hop goes through a whole character arc with feeling like he's in his brother's shadow... and tierno and trevor from pokemon X and Y just... exist.

According to Bulbapedia, almost all opposing trainers have pokemon with max friendship from gen 2-7, exceptions being one of the gen 3 battle facilities and any mon with Frustration. so Bianca does have max friendship with her Pokemon.

I actually love the theory of Barry bejng Bianca, even if it doesn’t make sense. With a few story tweaks though, it could work in like an au or something! I might use the idea myself, actually.

On the other hand Bianca is a total klutz but her kindness are impossible to resist. Otherwise Klara are a hottie although her creepy glare make her more vain and ugly
But but but but- Penny also calls the former team Star leader Atticus hot without his mask on, confirming her non-straight status as being most likely bi like Shauna
