Another reason for the skirt thing in the Japanese opening, is that "Miniskirt" is the name for the Lass trainer class in Japanese. This makes them a counterpart to the Youngster class, which is "Shorts Kid" in Japan. This is why the first Youngster in the series introduces himself by saying "I like shorts, they're comfy and easy to wear!"
It is also a reference to a Japanese saying which means that something is difficult and challenging task to do. In Finnish, we have the corresponding saying that is "to go through the gray stone" (because it is almost impossible to go through the solid stone without tools).
Dude. You missed the reference, i think. You said you liked it, but didn't mention... Roughneck Kirby is an easteregg. Hes BALD And has a PINK PUFFBALL as a pokemon... Bald... Pink Puffball... Kirby... SOUND FAMILIAR?
So in regards to the perverted Hiker on the Ferris wheel, there's another Hiker like this. After Union Cave in Pokémon Crystal Version, Hiker Anthony says, "I came through the tunnel, but I still have plenty of energy left!" The Lass right next to him says, "Pant, pant... It was much bigger than I expected..."
I enjoy how the intro implies that Green from Pokemon Adventures is a swimmer trainer class. It fits her really well actually! She's got a Blastoise and everything haha
Since Kirby Battles Universal Chaos Gods all the time, it's no surprise that a roughneck trainer named after Kirby uses a cute pink Pokemon that looks like Kirby
Fun Fact: Interviewer Roxy in Gen 4 was given that name by the head of the translation team as a reference to a Let's Play of Pokemon Crystal, due to the similar hair color of the female interviewer and the female protag of Pokemon Crystal as well as the fact she uses a Wooper, where a Wooper became the main iconic member of the team in the LP after abandoning their starter early on.
Sounds like something not too different from Pokémon Masters, some playable Trainers in that game are generic Trainer classes like Hex Maniac and Sightseer.
Pokemon Weilder: The only trainer to have the "Pokemon Weilder" class is Volo, who straight-up cheats with a full team of six and an extra two Giratinas. In fact, he's only referred to as a Pokemon Weilder during his final battle, making this trainer class even more limited.
There also is one Aroma Lady in Sinnoh who uses a Combee which is also not a Grass type. So make that at least two Aroma Lady´s who use other Pokemon than only Grass types.
17:39 Correction- Iwao can only be battled in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon during a double battle with Morimoto. In the original Sun & Moon it’s just a single battle with Morimoto.
0:27 so there's actually a pair of trainers in Gen 5 inside the cave next to to the daycare that only move if you hold down the B button. I remember this being a weird quirk.
At 10:40, I think in emerald, you're rival, as in may/brendan, is shown to have a little brother that uses the ninja boy overworld sprite. I think it was meant to be a reference to max, since if you play as a male, it makes him may's brother
6:52 I don't think so. That wouldn't explain the existence of Hisuian Voltorb. 7:49 Youngster Joey lied to everybody 😟 8:40 🤔 17:59 Philosophical Pre-schooler. 18:27 😨
I always thought that one hex maniac was trying to fulfill a purpose or something, based on all of the ghost girl occurrences, and when she sees you, she notices you're not the one she's looking for.
One: super congratulations on hitting 1 mil subs! I've been watching your videos since I was little, and it's amazing to see you come this far! Also I know you've covered it, but the newest PokéManiac trainer model has the PokéStar Studios logo! A cute detail I was happy to see, since gen 5 was my first generation. Another massive congrats on 1 million subs!
Can't believe you didn't talk abt the only canonically trans character in pokemon, that one beauty that used to be a black belt which is a male only trainer class
@Dobbs Also, about the gen 3 Interviewers, if you battle them enough, they will get stuck in the route above Mauville, but can still be reset for another battle, they just won't rotate around anymore
20:09 Correction: In Pokémon LeafGreen & FireRed, there's a location called the Trainer Tower on the Sevii Isles. I was going to point out that one of the trainers has a shiny Espeon, but upon checking Bulbapedia, THREE of the trainers within the tower have a shiny Pokémon. Crazy.
"I rode my bird Pokemon here. But my birds can't fly me back." Given his location in the middle of the ocean, this would make a lot of sense if he rode a Psyduck or Golduck.
the Cafè Master class is translated as correctly as it should be lol, in Japan, some customers refer to the owner of a cafe as “Master” because that person is someone who has perfected their craft in a skill, such as coffee making
Another thing the pokemon ranger class in main series games seem to be wrong like rather they seem to be actually be the tamer class since they have whips while a pokemon ranger does not practice the use of permanent captures but rather emotional connection with the ranger tool and then the pokemon is released after they have helped a ranger so where are pokemon Rangers in main series? We know they exist becuase of the manaphy egg transfer in gen 4
12:09 Timestamp for the greatest trainer class of all time in case anyone needs it. The REAL fact that you need to know about Hex Maniac is that she has more NSFW artwork than any other trainer class, even having more fanart than some famous female gym leaders and Elite 4 members.
I found it interesting that according to the trainer description of Rocker, or the "Electric Group Trainer", it is a trainer specializing in electric type Pokemons and they wields electric cables. But I still can't connect wielding wires with music and its early appearance looks like a Rock musician only because of the Gen 1 sprite has long hair. And in the FireRed and LeafGreen, this class was completely replaced by a generic Engineer class. That's why, in my opinion, it remains unclear what the class is supposed to be unless it's meant to be something like a "junior electrician" paired with the "Old Man Electrician" class.
1:54 the Roughneck shown here has the name Kirby and have one cleffa to reference kirby from the Kirby series in name and similar (kinda) looking mon. 6:50 wait-Dosent Pokémon PLA contradicts this? (Hishian Voltorb) (although do to them (well not extinct but they have to adapt they lost their typing or Silph. co revived them, since they went extinct very recently they don’t gain the rock typing)
Interesting that the only exception for the Aroma ladies is Goodra. Fits since it has Sap Sipper as an ability. The other team memebers mist be damn tasty XD
Haven't played any of the newer games, but I believe rangers are the only trainer class other than ninja boys who are able to fully hide themselves until the player gets close enough to trigger a battle.
People need to leave Youngster Joey alone. He specifically says, "It's LIKE my Rattata is in the top percentile". Some jabroni not knowing how to read isn't Joey's fault.
7:24 Fun fact, this is actually misinformation. I went there myself in white and she didn't say this. She actually says something like. "Being a swimmer is great, except I don't know where to keep my Pokeballs." "Teehee, woman's secret" was never real.
That line actually is a translation of a line from the Japanese version of Black/White. "ビキニの わたしが どこに モンスターボールを しまうのか? フフフ…… 女の 秘密よ" (Bikini no watashi ga doko ni Monster Ball o shimau no ka? Fufufu... Onna no himitsu yo.)
