I have a theory for recent MVPs. Giannis won 19-20 mvps and won finals in 21. Jokic won 21-22 mvps, and won finals in 23. If Embiid wins MVP in the 24 season, will he win the finals in 25?
As of Nov. 5, 2023, Bob Cousy is the oldest living MVP and the oldest living member of NBA 25th, 35th, 50th and 75th Anniversary team. Petit is also a living member of this exclusive list. Russell was also a living member when he was selected for the 75 Anniversary team in 2021. Mikan passed away in 2005.
Nooooo….As a spurs BUT basketball fan I do agree, he did get cooked(well done). Buuuut everyone got a fun lil fact, I’m just saying you didn’t have to do him dirty. Put some respect on David Robinson name, it’s not like he was scrub winning. Also it’s a season award not playoff award. Straight up who’s best? Yes, I’ll take the dream but don’t make David sound like some scrub.
The top 90's centers were Hakeem, Robinson, Ewing, and Shaq and Hakeem ended up cooking them all in the playoffs during the Rockets' two championship runs. 🔥
@@genesisosuna oh we gonna keep to bring this narrative alright. i still remember after Jokic won the 2022 mvp, Embiid said "idk what else I have to do to win it, at this point its whatever"
It was very sad that the year after Derrick Rose won the season MVP, he suffered a serious injury that tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. If Rose hadn't suffered a serious injury, the Bulls of the 2010s would have remained a powerhouse team for several more years.
Jokic should have won 2023 MVP. Still can't believe the NBA chose to give sympathy MVP to Embiid. They robbed Jokic of his 3rd in a row MVP, making another history in NBA.
I think it’s referring to the fact that KG was the first player to win drafted directly to the NBA out of high school, whereas Moses came out of high school into the ABA
Moses Malone came straight from high school into the ABA and went on to win NBA MVP a couple times as well, so how is Kevin Garnett the first player to win MVP coming straight out of high school
I wondered about that too, but for Kevin Garnett it says "skip college and play in the NBA right out of high school" so the fact is correct. Malone skipped college and played in the ABA right out of high school and then the NBA.
@14:50 is incorrect and you can tell your source @tomhaberstroh that: Paul millsap alone has multiple allstar, all nba and all defensive and he was on 2020-2021 denver nuggets when jokic won his first MVP, i literally seen him play 50-75% of games that year playing atleast 20 minutes. I wont bother checking all jokic his teammates from every year! Others on this list are also Bshit because i know for a fact lebron james moved to Miami to start season #8 ... no need to bring up all his teammates and when they got their accolades, but for reference bosh and wade alone amount to 25-30 all league selections over their careers.... and curry during 2015 mvp? i dont know all the numbers but atleast for 2015 there was only 10 all league selections MAX in the roster.... if you wanna count the years BEFORE a player has made his first MVP then the person creating this graph is really ridiculous because jokic also played with isaiah thomas whos a 2time allstar and maybe even has allnba... not sure. END OF RANT.
at least put some respect on david robinson man. i really like ur videos and contents. but man, david robinson earned his mvp. he deserve it. u know that in playoffs its all back to zero.even mvp nowitzki lost to an 8 seed.
According to bitter Pistons players, Larry Bird was overrated because he was white. They said if he was black, he'd be considered just another good player.
God the Embiid MVP was the saddest MVP "gift" ever. He even backed out of the "decider" battles him and jokic could of had before the end of the season. Stupid race obsessed media, we all know that was a factor. Along with the crying lol
Playing the "race card". 🙄 MVP race is narrative-based and voters like picking a new player/story. Even legends LeBron, Jordan, and Magic never won MVP 3x in a row. The last 3x in a row MVP was Larry Bird in 1986!!
@@thebasketballhistorian3291 yes Perkins and multiple other commentators brought race into it. It's all well documented, obviously should of been otherwise it would of been Jokic.
The bshit voting for MVP has been evident for a decade for me... ive tried to look up certain past mvp votings and statleaders of that year etc. But i never thought MJ would have been one of the players who got cheated out of multiple MVPs... and im not just looking at ppg. When magic has kareem to pass to, its natural hes getting 10+ assists, who is jordan passing to, rookies Grant and Pippen!?! Jordan in 89: 10 points more, a steal more, a block more and better fg%, he loses by 4 assists and a small FT% ... who cares about where your team placed.. its an individual award. Jordan in 90: 11.5 points more, a steal, a block and way better fg%... again he loses by assists and small ft% only, hes even got more winshares! 91 jordan gets it and the only thing changed is: bulls have highest net rating and finish 1st.... after that they even beat LA in an almost sweep in the finals of playoffs. So we can obviously see MVP voters weigh TEAM performance heavily... then look at embiid 2023... 76ers did F* all and embiid only had points and blocks over jokic, 12 other League leading stats went to the joker and so did team performance.... playoffs they even win the title, all of a sudden voters dont care about team seeding?. so.... in 89 criteria is jordans team has a worse record, whats the criteria in 90 when even barkley gets more votes than jordan....again the team standing!?
