She's such an inspiration! My hubby and I are on day 2 of a gut healing and sealing gaps protocol. Then we will go to a low carb Weston A Price way of eating. I think healing and sealing the gut is an important FIRST STEP to gaining good health.
YAY YAY! I had so many more questions for her so hope to have a future interview with her again! Glad you enjoyed the conversation and hope you have a happy day!
This interview taught me more about the power of stress and the mental game in life than I ever thought about before. Mary has such an inspiring story. If she can overcome what she did. I can overcome my challenges! We are more powerful than we realize.
Her story about being bed-bound for so long reminds me of a biography of Robert Louis Stevenson that I read. He spent most of his childhood bed-bound, and so he was forced to live in his imagination rather than the real world, and that made him into the incredible creative writer that he later became. There are blessings to be found in the weirdest places!
My arthritis, acid reflux, and joint pain has disappeared since going mostly carnivore and a tad of keto. I actually started keto but switched to carnivore after a few months. I'm amazed at how much better i feel and look, not counting how much more energy i have. Thanks Lillie for this interview with Mary.
That's awesome! Thank you for sharing! Glad you found what works best for you. I had someone asking me about arthritis yesterday so this confirms what I said :D
@@cdtpal3061 I was eating keto. Nuts, dairy some plants. Heard from Dr Darren Schmidt that all that’s on keto is inflammation to the joints. I even fixed my chronic cough of a year and a half from carnivore diet. Obviously keto is fabulous for one that doesn’t have any inflammation. Better to start young like Lillie has to prevent such things. 63yr old here😩
Yes- I went total carnivore 6 days ago- and CRAVINGS ARE GONE- and i didn't think I'd EVER get over sugar cravings... saw commercials for Reese's cups and kit kat with mint-- love those-- and didn't rush out to get one making some excuses of doing without later-- wasn't EVEN interested. NEVER happened to me before.
I know what you mean just going throught that again ATM as well . More specifically for chips and ice cream. Not carnivore but zero sugar/processed crap.
Mary is RIGHT- the "mental/emotional" plays an actually GREATER role in healing than any outward efforts... the MIND is powerful- but the Heart actually makes a magnetic field that is over 5000 times stronger than the one the brain puts out-- but united- they multiply infinitely- and that is where the "creation" part comes in-- we create our own realities-- mentally- and when united with the heart- we speak it into existance--be that negatively to get sicker or positively to heal-- and much more.. Tell her to keep up the good work too- and add in the heart/mind union to help the healing MUCH faster!!
Yes! Our mind is SO POWERFUL. There is a great book called As a Man Thinketh that really emphasizes this point! It's incredibly hard to heal if you don't believe you will or do not have the energy aligned to heal. Think happy thoughts! :D (more to it than thinking happy thoughts...but it sure helps!)
So excited to hear this! I know no one food set works for everyone, and no one has the WHOLE answer except God, and we all die anyway, but I don't think He intended for us to resign ourselves to poison foods and depression!
Yes! It's so true! There is no WHOLE answer and I also agree, I'm not sure He intended us to all be the same or have all the answers. Have a blessed day Alyssa!
@12:50 Oh how I know this feeling all too well. It has been the hardest part of my depression to try to conquer. It hurts to not be able to give and do for others when you are disabled and people do so much for you! Phenomenal and powerful interview. Thank you, Ms. Lillie, for sharing it!
I am on GAPS intro phase 2; this interview helped me so much-especially the surrendering part. Mary didn’t say it but I will: Surrender to Jesus. I did that again and He has lifted such a weight of depression and RAGE from me it’s incredible. Thank you Mary for helping me to see I had to do this or I won’t heal. I have begun EFT also. I do have a question: Do you recommend holding off of probiotic foods until the gut lining is fully rebuilt? I’ve been having problems with them every time I try them. I realize I did too much at once so should I wait?
Thank you for this wonderful interview, Lillie! Your smile is SO genuine, warm & caring. You are such a beautiful person, and we are all so blessed by you!! 💗💗
You really out did yourself with this interview, Lillie. One thing of interest that Mary briefly touched on, although I wish she had elaborated, is the concept of seasonal eating. She seems to be pretty much living that lifestyle personally, but I'd be fascinated to hear more of her insights on that. It seems like she does that now because her present level of health now allows her to "indulge" in whatever is fresh at the market. She also said she really doesn't eat breakfast, but eats in the evenings, which is also my favorite feeding schedule, although it does tend to sabotage my weight loss efforts to some degree. I would also like to know if she ever engages in extended fasting, and does she ever prescribe that for her clients (?)
I believe she intermittent fasts and prescribes extended fasting to certain clients though I don't know who would be someone she would say should do it. I had so many more questions for her and each question she answer made me have 10 more questions from just her answer alone haha I will have to do a follow up interview with her in the future! Glad you got good info out of the video and hope you have a happy meat-filled day!
Fantastic! I don't know how I missed this from a year ago. Mary Ruddick is a true expert in her area, just like Ben Bikman, Paul Mason, Nadir Ali are in their's. What she has to say about fiber, the micro biome, fermentation, native diets of all types is fully enlightening. Her life story, and her serious, deep research supported by her traveling to these fantastic places, gives her recommendations a lot of credibility.
This was wonderful! I could listen to her for hours. So much helpful and useful information. She has so much experience it’s crazy. Thank you for this..it was fascinating!
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes! I could have asked her questions and talked to her all day too so full of great information! I want to travel the world and experience these things with my eyes so I know the truth myself!
Hi Lillie what a fascinating interview. This lady is an amazing survivor and has so much interesting information to give that I'm going to watch the video more than once. Some of it reminded me of when I was ill in hospital for a year and what it was like having to rely on other people. Other parts reminded me of your health challenge because apart from going to sleep earlier I need to getore fresh air The dietary information answered lots of questions. Well done to amazing you for having her on your channel one of the best interviews ever!!
Oh excellent! Thank you! I’ve been following Mary for awhile, I’m sure it makes more sense why I look up to her. She has SO many more stories about being chased by a lion and another time having to run away from a stampede of rhinos! What a wild life she has lived…I could have talked with her for days! Glad you enjoyed the conversation and hope you have a rocking day!
So many people have written me saying carnivore saved their life! It's unbelievable and makes me so happy to rude. If you haven't checked out this video yet, I know you will enjoy it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GDOcmc5lURk.html
You mentioned getting out-- that is one thing I'm short on... due to income- or rather the lack thereof--- I spend a LOt of time working on a way to supplement my puny ss income.. never had a problem before- anyway- I end up sitting here in front of this box way too much!!! I need to resume my outdoor martial arts workouts, tai chi- walking and meditation. Summer /fall and spring I can do that- winter- no getting out around here- I'm high altitude-- but I LOVE this vid- you guys are talking about everything I NEED.. and others too.. if they just have sense to listen- and HEAR...(big difference in listening and HEARING!!)..
That is one thing that bothered me-- (diversity).. the Bible says" ALL things are good IN MODERATION" if taken with thanksgiving and praise!! So it's in line with what she said- we can CHANGE our bodies- but have to do it GRADUALLY- all things IN MODERATION... not a lot at once.. bodys take TIME to change.. AND to heal.... AGAIN- super good video.
Yes! The body sure does need things to be gradually reintroduced! It's incredible how quickly our gut microbiome can change and feed off foods! Thanks for watching David! I love all the comments!
@@LillieKane UPDATE- I've been doing PURE carnivore for little over a week-and WOW- pains gone- I feel 20 years younger, muscles getting tighter and bigger without doing workouts (waiting til after eye surgeries finished). and havne't needed a nap in a week!! weight is shifting too... :)
Oh wow! This comment really hit home for me and I had a realization about healing. It can be gradual and step by step. All things in moderation-all things one step at a time. Thanks for sharing this!
If I could form a tribe I would want the both of you in it. We need to surround ourselves with the best people we can and eat a great diet and we would all flourish.
HAHA! This is definitely the first time anyone has wanted me in their "tribe" heehee but I'll take it! I think it would be wonderful to live a more simple down to earth life with more relaxation! We barely scratched the surface of all the things Mary has seen and done with tribes around the world...one time she was chased by a lion!
Super! Very informative, I stick with my 98% carnivore, and the rest 2% for some variety in fruits, or any thing else. I learned about the difference between variety vs nutrition in this conversation.
EXCELLENT! Thank you so much! It makes me so happy to read this! Hope they bring a smile to your face and you're feeling healthier than ever! Have a great rest of your week!
41??? Only need ONE...:) (Dr. Berry would tell you carnivore...period..they have YET to find one that doesn't reverse when put on carnivore..) :) Kidding, Lillie. I very much respect the videos you put out- and the information in them.. always VERY valuable.. I'm very interested in this activity this lady is doing too.. thank you again for EXCELLENT work.. I just love having my day brightened so much watching you.. (no, not a stalker- just love that smile and the eXCELLENT work you're doing helping MILLIONS of folk- and any that have enough intelligence to listen to you).
YES! I have a picture of it on my phone :D I did do a video on Dr. Gundry's lectins list and how I choose which ones from his yes list that work for me: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ze7HSgFn2eg.html
Great interview! Mary is not only a wealth of experience and knowledge, she is a bright light. I was confused by one thing. She mentions being deficient in benfotiamine is sometimes a problem that cannot be corrected with food. Since benfotiamine is a synthetic form of thiamine, wouldn't the deficiency be thiamine?
@teribond7808, yes, a deficiency in thiamine (Vitamin B1). Allithiamine is a natural form--I wish I knew why she recommends the synthetic form instead. For those who are deficient, or suspect you are, look up "high dose thiamine."
@@PeaceIsYeshuaSome people can’t handle the sulfur base of Alliothiamine and need the synthetic. B1 is now hard for most very ill people to get b/c there is a scarcity of great quality pork and many won’t eat enough fish and have an intolerance to dairy.
@@intherightlight Thanks! I can’t even see my comment-it’s only showing one above yours from @CarisaRae. Oh well. 🤷🏻♀️ But thank you, yes, someone else recently told me about the sulfur thing, so of course those people would need to do an alternative for sure. I appreciate being made aware, because my mom has a sulfur allergy. And yeah, that’s a good point. I don’t eat pork for health reasons, but luckily I do drink lots of milk daily. Love my milk!! 😊
Hope you get great information out of this video! I could have asked Mary a million more questions...I want to travel the world and experience all this knowledge...wow!
wow, Lilli..... this was amazing. I wish she had gone into HOW she managed to recover from being bed-bound for so long. How did she take those first steps and then start walking again. I know this may sound strange, but I have two folks I'm close to that are experiencing these things and they don't even know where to begin to regain strength after this deconditioning. Thanks for all you do in your video's.
If you have had positive tilt table test for the disorder, P.O. then u can get an order for cardiac rehabilitation from a cardiologist. The exercise physiologist in rehab will monitor you and help greatly with getting strength back. I have POTS and this is what I am doing, and after 1 month I no longer need supplemental O2.
@@edisprick5078 I have had vertigo so a "tilt table" test won't be happening for me. Just the thought of it brings back that uneasy feeling. Can you give an example of what types of exercise you are doing that help with this? I'm so glad to hear you're off the 02. That's huge!
I had Epstein Barr virus as a kid that turned into Acute Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I still have neuropathy pain and such. This is a great video. ❤Looking for pain free days. I'm going to try keto'vore for a while then prob carnivore for a month to see if it helps. Willing to try anything.
I have written your name down and will be praying for you tonight :) I can't imagine how mentally tough it is to try new things and have hope after trying many things and it not working. Please keep me in the loop on if you see any benefits or not, I am always curious to see what works for others. Take care Laura
@@LillieKane I watched the documentary "Eating Animals" last night. Pretty sad they way they treat animals in factory farms but I'm not going to stop eating meat. I might reconsider my sources though.
Good stuff. I like what she said about diversity and talked about carnivore healing the microbiome. Not sure about washing my hair with an egg yolk though, those happy eggs are too expensive for that! Staying in Ketosis is key for me right now.
Man...THIS was G👁👁D STUFF! Such an informative video. I connected with so many things that Mary explained about food we must eliminate for( healing) vs. intolerances, nutritional needs/value or just personal preference. I really ❤ed the info about the "soft/new/healed" tissue in our gut/intestines we must be delicate and patient with when reintroducing certain foods.(a teaspoon at a time instead of FULL HAM...Lol) 🤯 It was like one of Oprah's "A-ha" moments for me. 💡🤔 P.S. I should have worn my sunglasses for this video Lillie-Bug. All the positivity and light from the 2 of you was BLINDING! 🌞😎🌞(maybe you could post a warning next time.)😜💙😜💙😜💙😜💙😜
YAY! Monique you are too much with all your emojis haha I did warn in the beginning saying it would be a smiley video! haha this is why I was so excited to speak with her...finally I'm not the only weirdo who is smiling while talking haha love you Monique!
THAT is another issue -- she talked of going to the STORE EVERY DAY and getting fresh-- well the only FRESH we have around here- is VEG and FRUIT at the FARM up the road here that sells to grocers... otherwise there is no FRESH!!! it's grocery store every other week for us-- can't afford to go daily..couldn't afford the gas much less the other bills..
Also, Since butter is made from cream, do you ever just think of drinking cream to get fat? I have been drinking whipping cream recently and just love it.
When you say its ok to eat plants, cassava. Etc...if your healty...how do you know if your healthy and don't have low grade chronic inflammation going on...what markers can one monitor to feel comfortable that they are healty? Thanks Joev
I am waiting for a 30 minutes free consultation for 15 min now!!!! I have a heavy schedule and skipped other plans to be available for this call! Not a good start!!! I received 5 emails confirming it and 2 text messages!!!! And NO call 😳
I have a question, and sorry if she answered it, as I don't have time to watch the entire video right now and am just skimming. My question is should we take probiotics when eating carnivore? I've been taking them daily for years because of gut issues (which I guess they haven't solved) and I'm wondering if I should continue. I feel like there's probably a lot of things I should cut back because it seems like you utilize so much more of the nutrients you eat when eating carnivore, but until just now I hadn't considered whether or not I should stop taking probiotics.
This is tough for me to answer so my disclaimer is I'm not a doctor or nutritionist but if I were in your shoes, I would just experiment without it. If you have been doing it for awhile and haven't seen major progress, you could always try without it and see if you say any improvements or drawbacks. Please keep me in the loop with what you end up doing and how it goes for you since I know someone who is eating carnivore but with probiotics and has been debating eliminating it as well since they are not seeing the healing they were expecting. I don't think there is a wrong or right answer and probiotics may be the answer for someone and for someone else, it might not serve them. Experiment! Take care Shannon!
@@LillieKane Thanks for the reply! I've decided to quit them for now. Of course I've only been carnivore for maybe a week (but keto since October) so I won't have a long comparison with and without the probiotic, but either way I'll come back in a month or so and update you on if I did great without it (and hopefully cured my TMI issue that I've had for almost a decade), if I don't notice a change at all, or if I end up going back on it.
Hi thanks for your good information I’m on strict carnivore..I was not overweight And now I’m losing too much weight Any suggestions.? I don’t want to stop Carnivore
Tell Mary that we HAVE to create something inside FIRST.. that is the ONLY way it works.. once that is right- the outside lines up with the inside!!! :) That's over simplification- but that's basically it. Even the Bible says-" a good word doth good like medicine"--because it changes the inner state!!! (which HAS to come first or NOTHING works).
Amazing video and very interesting. Question... Do you or Mary think you could achieve the same results with Sirloin or fillet steak as opposed to Ribeye ? I know the fat content is very different. But is there any other benefits ? I must say i prefer fillet and just add butter on it... but i still don't know if there's any nutritional differences. Thank you and keep posting this amazing content :)
Great question! I do believe there is a difference in nutritional content but I am not exactly sure what you would have to supplement to reach the same nutritional content as ribeye. I would say, maybe a fillet with some eggs on the side if you like eggs :D
@@LillieKane Thank you so much 😊 I absolutely adore eggs. Lately I been having 2 raw yolks with my steak or burgers every day which is in line with what you suggested. Please keep these amazing videos coming and thank you once again. All the best 🙌
Gorgeous beautiful blonde !! I have switched to the meat diet for 2 weeks and it is incredible. I weighed 108 kilos and now 100 although I have always been muscular only that before I had a belly and now not. Greetings from europe spain. Te amo!
Hello all the way to Spain! I once went to Barcelona...y yo hablo espanol tambien...soy de San Diego donde muchas personas hablan espanol! I'm happy to read you found success eating this way and hope you have a great rest of your week!
@@LillieKane Hehe what a beautiful blonde! I hope you liked Spain! Thanks if the truth is that it shows a lot. I don't have heartburn or heaviness in my stomach .. Thank you pretty
I am really confused by the phrase "ketogenic GAPS". The GAPS diet is NOT ketogenic, in fact, it's not even carnivore. I went on GAPS for over two years in an effort to heal menstrual issues and it was that stint with GAPS that brought on debilitating dysautonomia for me.
That's a great question! I wish I would have asked her about oxalates. It seems she avoids lectins more than oxalates but I wrote down your question and I will look for answer to include it in another video!
