I gave up all the anime and seasonal stuff around 2019 but something about this was different. Gave in to see what was going on and enjoyed every ounce of it. Even cried a few times and I'm a guy in their 30s.
yeah i stopped watching anime and went back to western stuff, and i love how everything’s not mediocre and half-done in the end. However, this caught my attention after recommendations, and I gave in. Holy shit. It wasn’t trash. It was amazing.
David didnt realize that her dream maybe once was to go to the moon, but since she met him, he became part of her dream. There is no happy endings in Night City. This series broke my heart because it was so damn good, the characters, they story, my god....this song specifically...shit man...I cried my eyes out

Ehh it wasn’t all that imo I see many people here saying “ it made me sad “ and etc. it just felt like another version of akame ga kill in terms of deaths so it was kinda whatever to me the music is good character designs was good other than that it was kinda whatever
This is what love is. Learning to suffer for the sake of each other in the face of adversity, shielding each other from harm, whatever the cost, however painful it may be, going forward and overcoming the obstacles that life throws at us making any necessary sacrifice. Not for our sake, but for the sake of the person we love. David and Lucy embodied this bond perfectly, and this is what makes their story special.
The saddest part is that she didn't want a moon trip anymore alone and her dream had no true meaning without him anymore. She just wanted to live in peace with him somewhere. Her body may be there but her mind isn't. She is alone, miserable and in pain , missing david and realising she's all alone now. You can see her realization when she imagines him and then snaps back to reality and the pain on her face. Everyone is dead and she gets to live with the guilt and pain all alone there. Makes me enjoy ripping Adam Smasher to bits much more in the don't fear the ripper ending. This was a great series and in tune with cyberpunk from mike's vision...Misery and pain all around.. Rarely do people get a good deal and end in night city. He saved her, but she will live in pain for the rest of her life now alone.
@@randomyoutubecommentersecu7639 I think Lucy still has the memory and the love of David for her, in spite of the loss and the grief that, as you pointed out, inevitably comes with it. This is something thay no one can take away from her. She knows that David's dream was to see the people he loved live their own dreams, and he did all he could to realize them by keeping his promises. To his Mother, to Maine and, above everything, above all, to Lucy. Also, I still place all my remaining hope in a Second Season of Edgerunners in which we will see Lucy take on Arasaka on a quest for vengeance and maybe David in a sort of Johnny Silver Hand kind of role.

I think a really good way to repair our hearts and also keep it proper in the universe would be to have Lucy steal the cyber mind module of David and have it as she's trying to destroy smasher and arasaka in general. That would be an awesome story, just wanna see Lucy get some sort of companion man... She lost everything, Falco gone to hiding too....

It broke my heart.......and now WE NEED MORE CYBERPUNK STUFF INT THE FUTURE..but this one is really hard to beat..because this is the definition of classic..

If you haven't yet, play the game. 2077 had a rocky start but has insanely good story writing and you really feel for the characters, just like this anime adaptation. Also, CDPR confirmed that they would be making a sequel to 2077 so we can at least look forward to the possibility of more potential animated spinoffs focused around badass chooms like David and Lucy.
David and Lucy's relationship is one of the best written relationships I've ever seen. Such passion and love was put into those two characters. It's gonna be hard for an anime to top that anytime soon.
well spoken hisoka i often find love scenes cringe but the fact you knew this was the last moment david and lucy was going to be spending together just made it that much more hard to watch. i'm happy lucy got her wish and david was able to facilitate that for some one in the end because that's all both of them wanted.
Having finally finished watching Edgerunners after clocking in 800 hours of Cyberpunk 2077 since launch, they could have done a lot of things better to explain the certain nuances regarding the chrome, the lore of Night City, its gangs etc a lot better for those who have never touched the game. But outside of that, you are spot on. From only a 10 episode series, they did really well on the character development side of things.
God.... this show was so phenomenal.... an outstanding gem that I'll likely come back to multiple times but fuck did this wreck my heart. Watching how happy everyone was at first, at least mostly, and then just watching everything fall apart as everything always does in night city. And a special callout to Becca, possibly the best and most supportive character in the entire show. I need me a choom like that.

its crazy bc David had a drink in the after life. I remember like 2 years ago seeing it in my inv said "David Martinez Drink" and im happy to see that they finally showed us who David Martinez Was.
Finally this song gets all the attention it deserves. It was already good in the game but with all those moments from the show it gives everything an emotional touch
It's because the entire time, we hoped we were wrong. We truly wanted David to be special and for Lucy to be honest with herself and David. And we were given so many close, heartfelt moments that we were sure it would be a happy ending. But there are no happy endings in night city, not even for the corpo elite (see Arasaka family, 2077 a.d.)

you can't be together forever. they were for a good portion of the show. that's all we can really ask to spend the time we have with the people we love most and for david that's exactly what happened and in the end he got to fulfill the wish of lucy. her childhood wish. that's way more beautiful than them being together and if you think about it. the ending symbolised how david will be forever with lucy after that. she will forever carry his memory for as long as she lives.

I lost my fiance tragically a while ago, and i heard this before i watched the series, but this song brought up memories of her good ones, and it left me feeling hollow from knowing she was gone, this is a very good and very painful song
this actually makes me feel real bad about my own choices in life, isolating myself from others, this makes a hole in my stomach I presume that pain is the anxiety that I might be missing on important things like bonding with other people

you are and it's never too late to make the changes necessary to facilitate healthy relationships now. it just takes thinking about the things that are causing this to happen... for me i tend to split because i fear abandonment so bad i'd rather tell others to go away before they have the chance to leave my life without my control. therapy can help facilitate these changes so please if the sadness gets worse get ahold of the right people and learn from your past! i'm just starting to build relationships that actually matter myself so you really aren't alone here. it's painful i know but that just means we need to seek it out that much more... right?
Even though this isnt in the "lineup" of anime for this season, this is without a doubt the #1 spot for me this season, and possible this year. The sheer animation, the story telling, the character building in IMMENSE and Powerful! From the beginning until the end just grips you in and makes you wanting more without fail. I KNOW that they will make a season 2, because it CANT end like this.

imagine if the game was held off for a bit loinger and dropped with this anime, it would have been so refined and would have been even more life changing
I doubt it would have the same impact as you’d feel even more disappointed when you find out that the game wouldn’t come close to your expectations after watching the anime. Watching it now though gives the game a renewed lease of life and hype once again :)

I could be sad the way it ended, but I choose to let this remind me of the great times David and Lucy shared. How they pulled each other out of the abyss and made each other feel again. What a story, bunch of legends!
the anime was more like a well-crafted movie that we barely encounter nowadays, and with single song, you’ll remember the whole story which means it has that BIG of an impact.

This show gave me a visual representation of what its like to live up to expectations and what it is like to earn reaffirmation. sometimes it forces you to do the unthinkable, may it be good or bad, people who truly loves you will stay by you, die for you. Somewhere along the lines, you so hyper focused in and PTSD hits before you know it. It is the last vial that sends you off the edge, the abyss will take you when you stare at it too intensely and too long. THIS SHOW MAKES ME FEEL SO HOLLOW. I WANT MORE.
As much as i loved the journey of Edgerunners it made me lose a part of my soul i swear. As weird as this sound i have never felt this sad in my life, the amount of grief after watching the ending is insane, depression at its finest.
This the type of anime where once it finishes, you genuinely don’t want to look for a new one because you know deep down you’d be disappointed with whatever garbage is swimming around there

Connecting to this track is so intrinsic after becoming involved with this series. The upbeat, melancholy 80s inspired synth wave combined with the gravity of the story is absolutely incredible whether you've been a fan of 2077 or jusy accidentally broke your heart watching for the first time.
Y’know, ive never cried over a show or a movie because the characters arent real. I still feel the emotions but nothing has ever made me cry. Ive gone 15 years of my life without crying over a show or movie. Then i watched cyberpunk edgerunners. Just like that, my record was broken and i had a new favorite show

My God I came in ready to get emotional listening to this thanks to my absolute love of these characters. Then I see these comments from people who feel the exact same. ❤ We really found something lovely didn't we!?
"You really thought you were special, didn't you?" This is such a great show, and I see where all the talk came from now about the comparisons between this and Blade Runner. Getting caught up in the fallacy that you're special, the main character, the hero of your own story... a natural tragedy, what a good watch.
this song makes me blank stare the wall for 5 minutes straight after watching the series. I usually don't feel anything anymore after watching anime series but god damn Trigger animations really did a great job.
If I had a nickel for every time a show killed off the best girl but was still good, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice. Becca deserved better.

Thanks for the song. Now, I can confirm that this song was the perfect choice. Regardless of how things ended, I still have hope for a new season o a more happy ending for certain lore items. I must say that I could nor play the game yet, but some of the gameplays of the official account gave some helpful lore.
This was my favorite song in 2077 and the fact it was a main song in Edgerunners made me feel so good....and so emotionally devastated at the same time now.

In fact, David made his dream come true. And he did - standing on the roof of an abandoned building. He did it - protecting his lover's dream. He did it-the Nightside etched his name. At last-he was not mad, He fulfilled his lover's wish. He fulfilled his mother's wish. Although, this is achieved in tragic form. At least, before David died, he was smiling contentedly. Even if it is a tragedy. But he wrote his own legend in the Nightside.
This show and this song after the ending leaves me feeling so empty but at the same time I can't stop listening hoping maybe eventually the pain will go away but it just doesn't. Fuck this show is too damn good, it has no business messing with my emotions this way.
