This is probably a weird and uncomfortable comment, but you are putting so much good out in the world that I hope it is paying you back. Your content is amazing.
3 simple, FREE ways to pay him back is simply by Subscribing, Like-ing the video and leaving a comment (you've already done one of these things). None of these three things cost you anything but help him out tremendously (helps him in the algorithm)
STICH!!!!! You have UNLOCKED my brain! You sir are the most effective guitar teacher I've ever seen! 30 years of playing and mostly improvising and just one week of watching your videos has absolutely taken my playing to the NEXT LEVEL TIMES 10!!!! You have a way of explaining the method behind the madness. I'm subbed for life! Joining your Patreon TODAY!!!!
Boom! I had some understanding of these concepts already, but you linked them together in a Grand Unified Theory better than I've ever seen. The cheat sheets for less than three bucks are the deal of the century. Thank you!
Great lesson. When I do CAGED for C Major, I always considered that 31:15 position the A shape (3 vertical notes 5,3, R...looks like A maj. 1st position), G then looks like, well a G on 10th fret Root,3,5,R.
Stich. Great lesson. I suffered through the cage master class and it always difficult to measure progress, but I am beginning to see the light! Lol. Thanks for the inspiration!
This guy brings such a positive and happy vibe that it literally calms me down when im feeling blue. He’s been a bearhuggin grandpa since he was in the womb i bet is his secret
This lesson opened my eyes I get it ! At least for now Lol really good lesson I can move along the neck without guessing it’s still a little confusing but I’m getting it , love that allmam brother sound
Yes, this is great, gives a visual to what all solo players need to learn. Thanks for posting, I purchased the sheets, I'm memorizing the 1, flat 3,5, flat 7 in all minor modes to start.
Stitch-Thank YOU SIR-----To Everyone else:: I found a useful way to get ahold of this was to break it down into 2 weeks......Study the minor for one week and get good at the fingerings and never lost system....also do as Stitch says, find minor backing tracks to play along with and navigate......Then week 2 study the major....and as he points out its easy to learn cause you already learned it! Again play along with backing tracks of all kinds....Ive never had so much fun.....thx again SIR
You neglected to anticipate one question that a person might have after watching this excellent video: HOW MANY CAPOS does one person actually need? ;-)
I’ve heard several guitar players say the best and most important thing you can to first in learning to solo is the learning the melody of the song. I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to do this but I guess it was learning the Major scale that has really been a huge eye opener for me in getting better at finding melodies.

Hi , thank you for sharing! I purchased a couple of your courses a few years back but didn’t understand the language. I even contacted you for lessons but felt I was way over my head. I seem to be an on and off type of player. Lately I have been focused on guitar theory. I’ve never heard of the hex form you mentioned. Is the sixth note always a particular one? Also I am trying to find all of the correlations between the numbers in pattern. So far I have the root note pattern, fourth below the first except for the g/B change and you mentioned the flat 3 is always after the three. What other horizontal patterns are there that would help me figure out the neck? Do you have any instructional videos about this? Thanks again for all you do! ❤
Does it drive you crazy that so many people misspell your last name? Probably not, you're too Zen for that. Thanks for sharing all you wisdom with us, Mr. Stich!
Probably a stupid question, but I notice you teach Patterns i.e. 1,3,5, b7 etc. Is this more valuable to a player than Note location? I understand both are valuable, but when you play are you thinking of landing on a 1, versus landing on an A?
Yes!!!! Intervals are the language of music. Even though note names are very good to know. The intervals of chords or scales never change. What I mean by that is a major chord is a 1 3 5 Allways! The note names will change as you move the chord but the intervals won’t. Check out my CAGED Primer Playlist and my Pentatonic Mastery Playlist. It will help.
@@StichMethodGuitar I'm named after Tennessee Jed! I grew up on the Dead. I went to Furthur concerts out at Red Rocks. I remember the Allman Brothers opening for them sometimes. It was awesome! I really appreciate your videos.

I’m 13 minutes into this lesson, I wish I wish someone had shown me this when I first started plinking away on my old Epiphone Gibson PR400 20 years ago. Of all the lessons and teachers I’ve watched on RU-vid, (I’ve watched quite a few) this has to be in the top 3 if not No1. Thank you so very much
There’s no shortcuts to learning this stuff. Love this channel for providing the structure to do so in reusable way that can easily be built upon as you learn more. No learning untethered tricks that help but don’t provide a further learning path. Really the best teacher I’ve found on RU-vid for long time self-learners trying to advance as an intermediate skill level musician. It takes a lot of work but the method here is the perfect journey to real, long term results. So thankful and amazed.
I have been playing for 50 yrs. I've learned more in a week on how to expand my playing then in those 50 with your system. Incredible, I love the the CAGED system has opened so many doors. Your lessons are top shelf, and it's always a pleasure with your jovial approach and personality. Thank you so much for all the effort you've dedicated to helping others. Reminds me of one of my idols George Harrison, he also loved to help others. Could have included him in the dim lesson, he loved them. Anyway I got a lot of GREAT stuff to practice now which is perfect since I just retired. Lots of time to practice now. Thanks again Stich you da man...🎸🎸
God bless you, Ian! Think I must’ve unpacked 5 years worth of hard labor with this Cheat Sheet. Slides nicely into Dorian mode too. Wonder what you’ve got lined up next!
For three years I've been trying to put all of this together. This is a masterpiece! Thank you so much for all of the time and energy you are putting into teaching this material. Most Sincerely, Sean
I have been jamming on a 16 bar blues E7 - C#7 - E7 - G7 - E7 - Bb7/G7 - E7. It sounds like a blues but it’s the 4 notes of the diminished scale (E-G-C#-Bb). After a few hours it makes your mind a mile wide. Try it. Funky as heck.
This is something my teacher taught me. In a blues solo. soloing using C blues scale, then Play the I-7 chord Arpeggio then the Idim7 arpeggio and alternate them in a descending pattern, moving down and playing the same arpeggios on lower parts of the neck. play the arpeggios as a quick lick in a solo like C7 -> Cdim7 -> C7 -> Cdim7 then usually end the lick with a Bend You move down 1 note each time
I caught the tutorial on linking the form one through two to four and got first part under my fingers intending to go back and work on the rest when, hey presto, I get a heads up message for this. Man, you must be reading my mind. Whatever I wish for Stitch comes up with it! I need to watch it (in the UK) over and over but it is all there. Thanks Stitch, you are the best. Rock on!
Speaking of “odd comments” I find graphics of the guitar neck difficult to follow. Maybe it’s because I’m left handed playing right handed. I have to flip my screen one turn to the right which then (IMO) actually shows the neck (fingerboard) sitting more realistically the way the guitar neck is positioned. I’m sure that turning the printed page sideways is the recommended way to view the neck but on the screen it’s much more confusing. It seems that fingerboard graphics are displayed with the guitar neck positioned vertically when horizontal positions are more natural and easier to identify. Am I totally nuts? I’m guessing that it’s because printing these graphics are easier vertically. Sorry for the long question! PS: Thanks for your video and the very important explanation of the chord/pentatonic position. (HUGE AHA Moment!)
I must only just now be seeing this because it wouldn't have made sense before, but I think my mind was ready enough to be completely blown. Wow, bro. I may actually be able to learn this ... maybe. 🤘🏻🤯
I played for 25 years then put it down for 7 years. i actually sold all my guitars and amps finally 2 years ago. recently i felt like something was missing and picked up a Gibson Flying V. Your channel has me fired up about learning and looking at it in a new light. Thank you for providing this content
I can visualize 5 ahapes of minor pentatonic. But I have to stop the play and jump into the shape I want. With this "Stich Method Never Lost Pentatonic" I can find the shape while playing.
I’m 6 minutes in & learned something. I thought playing chord tones was hitting the root of the chord being played. Turns out it’s any note in the chord.
Thank you so much you are the first artist that has been able to explain these scales in a way that I can follow and understand, 😊 I like your enthusiasm too it's not too much yet it is enough to show how much fun it is Good vibes and beautiful notes 🎸 🎶 thank you for blessing the world with your knowledge 💞
