Nah people that say he isn’t talented never watched him in Chicago. Even watching these highlights you can see his handle, far above average athleticism, great decision making and shot making. He switched his style of play up from his Chicago’s days because back then he had a lot more finesse

No, those people are actually right in the important ways. Jimmy is Jimmy because of willpower and work ethic, not talent or physical gifts - he has enough of both, but that's not the IT factor really at work here. Of course he's 'talented,' but not talented like most other top players in the league were, and while athletic even by NBA average, isn't athletic the way some other stars are - the ones that get called athletic. Hence, he worked his way from a relatively low draft pick role player off the bench to the guy with arguably the best postseason resume over the last 4 years with the possible exception of Jokic. Yes, he has talent, or talent enough, yes he has athleticism enough, but what he really has is an overmastering WILL, that's what truly characterizes his game. He doesn't care if the guys he's up against are more physically gifted or more "talented," he's going to impose his will anyway and they can't stop him. Because he's fucking Jimmy Butler and they don't have IT the way he does. That IT is willpower, and it's what makes us respect him as potentially the best player in the league, or at least in the top 2 or 3. "Concentration," "feeling for shots in clutch and intense moments," "unshakeable mindset," yes, WILL. Those things and many more things he does, down to all the little things he does unlike anyone else in the league. Sure he is a natural genius for the game too, maybe especially in the ways that don't show so much on the stat sheet, but that's not what people mean when they say talent usually. He doesn't have amazing hops or footwork, doesn't have amazing post moves, and doesn't have great shooting from outside short mid range. He's just supremely crafted, sees all, knows all, punishes every mistake in reach, doesn't fall for fakes hardly ever, but fakes everyone else into total confusion. Ofc great playmaking too. His innate genius and feel for the game is perhaps not less than even Jokic's in his own way, but what shines through most about him is that will. Nobody has done more with less, not even Kobe, especially at the team level.
