To be fair about Project Deluge, a steampunk Zelda game does sound potentially cool. Now that the games are experimenting with advanced technology in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, it would be interesting to see them explore other types of tech.

I find it funny how so much rumors were bron back in the day from not being able to open the game innards and investigate stuff. Like, the Binding of Isaac remake tried many times to include some deeply obscure secrets, only to the community to find within hours by datamining it

The Zelda 2 remake rumor is such a heartbreaker. I hate it, but I love taking the time to beat it every once in a while just because I love the series so much. We desperately need a remake of Zelda 2 just to make it a bit more accessible instead of the nightmare slog it currently remains.

I think the Skyward Sword / Zelda Wii rumours may have been true. Before Skyward Sword was known and was still known as Zelda Wii, Miyamoto. had said that Twilight Princess would be "the last zelda game as we know it" Implying that Zelda Wii would be a departure from the more traditional Zelda games. I believe that this was an optimistic attempt to build BOTW, but they realised that it was just too much for the Wii to handle, so they chopped up the world into different locations and further developed it into Skyward Sword, leaving the idea of freshening up the Zelda formula for ALBW's somewhat non-linearity as the test to dip their toes into that zelda 1-esque open world they wanted, and used the ideas that didn't make it into Skyward Sword into BOTW when the console was technically capable of it. The sword growing in power definitely happens throughout SS, though it doesn't really affect sword gameplay much and the improved horse AI and horseback combat is absolutely implemented in BOTW and there's a video of Eiji Aonuma and Shiggy playing the game, where they specifically highlight the horse AI. I think the choice between left and right hands thing is believable that they wanted it and it just didn't make the cut, time travel aspect is clearly implemented as timeshift stones and it's not inconceivable that the story originally had SS be set outside of Hyrule since we have skyloft and the lower kingdom that nobody goes to any more. It's pretty close to what I think is factual, I'd say they were good rumours. The next one about features in SS, was almost perfect, just got Fi's name wrong, game name wrong and dungeons with no bosses. I'm also confident that the Wii U Daily rumours were accurate. Almost all the info is correct, except that dungeons were massive. I think that's why there's so many shrines, they're pieces of the other dungeons split into more bite-sized pieces. Also the art style is absolutely similar to SS. The gamepad use is something that we know that was a thing, the dev team had requested Gamepad features specifically built for Zelda, but when the Switch version was required, they dropped all the Gamepad features.

I will never understand how people thought the Zelda tech demo was accurate to what the new Zelda game would look like. People set their expectations so high all the time, and that’s why everyone gets so upset with good games that “aren’t quite what they imagined”

Love how so many rumours back in the day were multistep madness, but lived on for years despite being obviously fake. Now the second a game is released it's data mined and just about everything is known in weeks, despite multistep madness easter eggs now being a thing!

Spirit tracks honestly gets too much hate

I have been a fan of Zelda since I bought the Nintendo SNES Mini in 2018, played the hell out of A Link to The Past (even though I didn't finish it (yet) because I was a kid and didn't understand old games that well). After a year or so I played BOTW, hated it. Then picked it up again an year later, loved it! Now, playing TOTK in the beginning of this year was AWESOME. Totk is an amazing game, and rapidly took 2nd place in my favorite games of all time (Nier Automata is 1st). When I decided I was finally gonna kill my backlog of zelda games by doing a marathon of Zelda Games, I wasn't expecting any game to take TOTK out of it's throne as my favorite Zelda game. However, quickly, the first game I played in the marathon, The Wind Waker, challenged the spot. It's such a beautiful game, that contains a perfect package of story, graphics, music and above all, gameplay. I feel nostalgic thinking about playing it. And I only played it 3 months ago. It's like the game took me back to my childhood, and made me want to explore the whole world and all of it's inner workings. I still can't decide if TOTK is still 2nd, but the more I think about it, I would say The Wind Waker took TOTK out of its throne. Impressive game. I am even afraid of replaying it and ruining the memories of my first playthrough.
