Guys it's incredible for me to see so much love being shared here. Suikoden 2 is indeed the best RPG ever made, and despite the average time that we took to finish it being low, it marked my mind and heart much more than tons of other RPG's that I've spent more than 100 hours to deliver. My love here from Brasil to all of you Suikoden fans around the globe. And just for the record, I've played the game when I was 21 and cried a lot with this game, especially in the scene where Riou, Nanami and Pilika waited for Jowy return in front of Muse with the Sunset. Now I'm 41 and sure that I'll love this game forever.
Just turned 40 myself... I remember buying this game from the shelves, literally 3 days before release date. I got it early cause no one ever heard of it at the store I worked at. (Target Electronics Dept) I then played the game to death. Everything about it just struck so many chords with me. Music especially, but beyond that so much other stuff about it. Story, gameplay, etc.... I don't know if I'll ever find a game that will resonate with me quite as much as Suikoden 2 did.
I'm so happy as well to see the love and passion shared by the suikoden fans here! I played this game when i am as young as 10 years old and now i am 26 years old and still love the game to the death. Maybe other people had their opinion but i still stood by all of your opinion that this is the best JRPG ever made! I have been playing the game yearly up until 2019 (Stopped due to starting to work) and is now looking forward to Eiyuden. Eiyuden might surpass this game (Or might not, we'll see) but this game will remain in my heart as THE best game ever made for me! I, too, am sure that i will love this game forever!
33, my favorite game, it is so well made, todays triple A games have much ti learn from Suikoden. I have hope since remasters are popular that series will be revived, and we will find out about all True Runes. Even if that does not happen I have always something to fall back to, and since I have 3 children I can't wait to play it with them and spread my love for Suikoden onto them. 😉
R.I.P. Yoshitaka Murayama, you did not have the chance to see the remake of these superb JRPG games you've created, Suikoden I and II, especially the launch of Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes. But rest assured we will see it for you.
it's just impossible to play this game only once even after a whole decade, simply hearing its music from somewhere will pull you back in like a black hole a second later you'll find yourself cleaning oil spills with a rag all over again or repeatedly reloading because you lost getting that damn boat in chinchirorin
When people tell me they hear "everything" i doubt it with a good reason. This is my precious gem. Ill take the memories of this game in my grave. This Game has everything. Love, betrayal, Zero to Hero feeling, Story deciding, lots of cool unique charakters, watching your own Base growing to a town, 1vs1 fights (god damn these were to epic for me), Tactical fights, Round Fights, Surprise elements, cool dungeons and cities and an epic soundtrack. I dont know what you ever want more of a RPG. This game has it all. Its still the best and Final Fantasy cant scratch that King of a game imo.
Best childhood memory.. I'm a Suikoden fan. I played all series from 1-5.. And I even finished Suikoden 2 more than 20 times in my life since it had the most beautiful story for me. Playing one Suikoden game took me 60hours above because I really loved playing each series, (enjoying every minute of it) completing all 108 characters, and even levelling each character up to 99. Thank you for this best game- Suikoden, Mr. Yoshitaka Murayama.
Yes, the story and the world are so alive imo, the art are top notch. The magnum opus of Konami and Suikoden staff in JRPG genre. I hope 100 Heroes will live up to our expectation
Cheers for Suikoden II. Best game of all times. When i first played it i was like 12.....Later if finished the game 10 times, with full walkthrough. Hearing about the successor "Eiyuden chronicles" made me hyped again for the series..... Best moments in Suikoden will be relived again.Thank God.My childhood is coming back after 2 years. What a great start of the day to read this. I am working with making a game movie with Suikoden 2 but its going to take a while . Its so impressive that a jrpg serie Suikoden can create a huge attachment to the players for such a long time

So glad people picked out Sierra in the background. 90s rpgs just sit right. Almost like they was meant to be. Happy that so many got to experience and explore this game. Out of 108 characters shu was my favorite. He was just cool to me!
Sierra is my favourite female character in Suikoden 2. She's easy on the eyes, a holder of one of the true runes, and definitely one of the strongest allies in terms of both magic and strength. It's nice seeing her in that picture.
If you like Sierra, just want to ask : Do you already play Suikogaiden ? I mean, at Suikogaiden Vol 1, Sierra is always with Nash at the beginning, and even have some flirting with him, lol... Anyway Yes, I myself like Sierra too... Well, who doesn't love our lovely Vampire ?

@@RyseMaxwell Oh yeah, just want to ask 1 thing : Do you like Anime ? If you like Anime, I suggest you try to look at Suikogaiden Opening. There are 2 Opening, for Vol 1 and Vol 2. Watching the opening, to be honest, I really wish there is an anime for Suikoden 2... which well, I think will never happened...
The first time i played this game is when im still 6 years old, now i am 22 and the vibe of this game and its music is timeless. Surely will play it again soon, for the God know how many times i've played it!
Ario Dwiponco i have a similar experience ! Rented the game in a video store and I actually had to rerent the game for a week . Pokemon red was my first rpg then suikoden . Noe I have all copies of every suikoden game . The music is magical .
Same here. My dad owned it and I would sneak some play time for myself. Its such a nostalgic game. Cant wait for the spiritual successor to come out, Eiyuden Chronicles will probably be my most anticipated game.
I remember Miki Higashino quit/retired as game composer for her personal lives, because she's overworked when working for Suikoden soundtrack. It's sad though because she's really talented and has unique in her arrangement. I love that she using a lot of traditional and accoustic instrument in majority of her soundtrack
Just want to say, the original team that create Suikoden II, now is in the making of their newest game, titled "Eiyuden Chronicle". Well, I don't know will it be as good as Suikoden II or not, but I think it will never wrong to support them. And yes, they are already out from Konami, and making their own company. You can try to look for "Eiyuden Chronicle : Hundred Heroes" if you want. It will comes out around 2022.
@@verdian4144 Well, from the plan (because the game still haven't been released), this are all of the platform that will have Eiyuden : PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox One Still kinda remind you, maybe the game will be released on different date for each Platform, so we still don't know which Platform that get Eiyuden released first...
Suikoden 2 was just altogether such a wholesome game. The characters, the locations, the music, you really felt like part of that world when you were playing it. Hard to believe such a treasure of a series was dropped.
I played suikoden 2 when i 15 years old, 20 years ago And played again until 6 times finished this games Very memorable game and sound in every moment in this game, for sure will share it to my son and play again with him

I don't think Riou have true rune. Bright shield and black sword are 2 parts of true rune of beginning. I don't remember in the end wether Riou got rune of beginning or not. Someone enlight me please.
@@peteralexandra7899 Kinda late but depending on which ending you pick, Riou can get the rune of Beginning. Dunno which one is canon to the story tho.
My favorite game out of all genres. Played it over 40 times by now and just don't get bored. been loving this over 20 years now. A game made with love and passion
@@paulsmith9192 Mixed bag actually. I love them as they are and they are not advertised with having bug fixes. The fanboy in me is excited, the skeptic feels like it's a cashgrab utilizing the Eiyuden Chronicle hype
@@paulsmith9192 Don't get me wrong. I REALLY want them to be good. I've just been very burned on Chrono Cross and have trust issues when it comes to Konami.
People respond that Chrono Trigger/FF6/FF7 are the greatest RPGs ever made. I disagree. No other game has ever affected me like Suikoden 2..... A rich story of war, fight for freedom and justice, friendship, betrayal and family....
My little brother just play this game again using emulator. I still remember the joy all of these songs brings.. Even I still knew a lot of the heroes name!
this game is my childhood. i used to watch my big brother play it all the time since i was too young to understand everything but the music in this game really left a huge mark in my heart. i feel strangely peaceful when i listen to these music.
Accidentally bought this game in 2001, but never regret 2 river theme, busting town, and best of all Due fiumi (2 river theme with lyrics in it) that moment is so magically.. Thank you very much for uploading this

Thatchbro yeah.. her song has its own characteristics, same like Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Cross), Yoko Shimomura (Legend of Mana, Kingdom Hearts), Motoi Sakuraba (Star Ocean, Tales series)
Sad part is no one in the industry who can replicate her style but eiyuden is a different game it maybe using the same mechanic but the feel would be different. It just sad because after the time they went creating that world we will never see it again.....gone forever.
I remember playing both Suikoden and Suikoden 2 when I was in my late teens. Everything, from the music to the characters to the incredible world-building and story, felt fresh and creative. I've already added the HD remaster duology to my Steam wish-list.

I always remember my childhood friend who introducing this suikoden 2 to me when junior high. Since then, all main suikoden series are my all time favorite series ever.
i was falling in love, at the first time i play the game. i was approx. 13yrs old at that time. and now im 30, and i still love this memorable pieces. pretty sure that ill play this game once again if i have time... ☺️

the magic of this game is real. never played it as a kid. tried it when i was 22. what i love about this game is unlike other JRPG that always play hero who save the world, this game is about common people who got caught in war. and the atmoshpere, the colors, the art, the music. i cant point out exactly what but the sprite and the pixels. it has this smooth and sandy feeling and it tastes like ice cream bubble gum.
Putting Lakewest Town as the first song. My absolute favorite. You know, this game, the ost, the character depth, and development, makes me tear up yet be at peace. In such a chaotic time in my life, I can find some kind of peace here..

2021 and I am still coming back to this game. In my top 5 for best jrpgs of all time. I cannot wait for Eiyuden to come out. And I cannot wait to replay the series again to prepare. S2 will always be my number 1 in the franchise, but S1 is where it all started.

Love the Ninja Village track. The 2nd fight against Necrolord also had a great track. Man what great memories. Spent so many hours on this game and still never got 100% lol. Lots of content packed in.
Bro, it's the reason I'm starting to play with RPG Maker, loved it when it and S1 came out, still love them now. Superb storytelling and music, one of the best rpg experiences of our time.
My first ever RPG year 2000! damn, it's been 22yrs! I did try a lot of JRPGs like ff series, wild arms, trails, cold persona, and many more but Suikoden 2 is still my favorite RPG of all time.

Suikoden 1-2 OST is not only beautiful but also unique bcs of traditional feel. Like you are legit in rural area. Kinda hope Miki Higashino making music for JRPG again
