1984 Johnson 9.9 HP with 15 HP carburetor, 9 pitch SS propeller on 1436 Tracker Grizzly all welded flat bottom Jon boat. Tops 25 MPH which is typical for 15 HP motor on boat this size.
These are great little motors I have a 1984 15 horsepower they run all the way to seven Grand and they will walk right on by a 20 horse of any 4 stoke made I seen a Evinrude 15 horse on this channel run 28 miles per hour with stainless steel 9 pitch prop this man does beautiful work
Thanks for sharing man, awesome vid. Can you tell a big difference in speed between the 9 pitch and 10 pitch props on those 15hp motors? and can you tell a big difference between the SS and Aluminum props?
With 9 pitch I think you get the most out of these motors. Even lightest 14” aluminum Jon boat with one person, battery and 6 gallon of gas will be under prop with 10 pitch aluminum propeller. I was reaching consistently higher speed with 9 pitch SS prop on every one of my motors I had ever owned. Difference is about 1.5 MPH to 2 MPH. Difference between 9 and 10 pitch aluminum prop is about 1 MPH. Difference between 10 pitch aluminum prop and 10 pitch SS prop is I don’t know, never had 10 pitch SS prop
Make sure it will run home on muffs or in bucket. If it’s not idling reliably clean carburetor. Check if telltale got good stream of water if not replace impeller.
jesus ive never heard one free rev that high out of gear lmao, an that's in the water on a heavy duty jonboat that's awesome bro I just hope it doesn't scatter part numbers thru its hood on you o.0 them flywheels lol
I think so, maybe even better. Had 1993 Nissan 9.9 HP which was able to get 16 feet Jon boat on plane with 3 persons in it at speed of 21 MPH. But I thing it was probably converted into 15 before I got it. Never tried and never had Suzuki 15 HP so I can’t tell definitely.
@@vojomatusenko im about to sell a 1994 nissan ns9.9b2 (2 stroke) outboard with remote, gas tank, new fuel line, new throttle cable.. only thing not included is battery. It starts and runs. Has bog problem at low to mid range. When it opens up, it pushes my boat (1542 jon) at 22 mph with just me. Located near Paducah, KY. $200 if interested.
Yes I am interested, but can’t drive to Paducah for just a motor. I am in Woodstock ga. Thank you of thinking of me. I may know what maybe the problem with your motor. My Nissan 9.9 (1993) had the same problem and magneto (part under the flywheel responsible for creating spark at low and high speed) from Ebay solved the problem. If you carb is clean this could be a culprit.
Yes it does, but probably not in the major way. Too bad I didn’t look inside the mid section if that was changed too when I was replacing impeller. I watched another guy video when he first put on his 9.9 15 HP carb and did speed test and then changed also exhaust tube and did speed test without noticeable change in speed.
