Just hearing the Shove run reminds me of my Uncle Mick... He passed at 80 just last week. He was a MOUNTAIN of a man... One of those greasy old Badasses, that could lean over and grab the kick pedal in his right hand, slam it down and fire the scooter JUST LIKE THAT! Of course, that was in his younger days... But a great memory. Cheers- Keep the greasy side down.
My old man has a 72' fx. He's had it since he was in his early 20s. He's 61 now. It's been sitting inside his house for the last 13 years. Says he selling it this summer for 5 grand. I'm gonna buy it. I've drooled over that bike since I was a kid. Looks very similar to this bike expect his is all black. Anyways nice bike hope it went to a good home.
Nice! Yeah that sounds like a bike you'd probably be kicking yourself later for if you get it. I ended up keeping the bike and glad I did, this videos a couple years old and I still own it 👍
Still have my 72 kick and drum brakes love it have it 30 yrs now when the Evo riders saw the kick only they were amazed I tried to educate them that Harley made bikes before evos you know how that can go
Wow its sad to know you have guys who ride harley and dont know the history , i have a 1996 evo ive owned since 97 and i know every motor they made and love vintage , i would own a knuckle or a pan if i could afford to buy one but i will stay happy as long as its a harley .....
Great bike. I own a a 72 FX I am trying to keep mostly stock(except for the brakes, ignition, carburetor, belt drive primary, and head work to keep it from rattling out spark plugs). This is also an interesting year. 71 FX was Harleys first attempt at a "custom" bike. 72 FX was the last kick start only year.. It was only available in black and gained the nicknames "Midnight Express" and " Night Train". 72 was also the last year all Harley parts were made and assembled in Milwaukee.. They only made 6500 of these and most of those that survived are in Japan or Australia.
Very cool I appreciate your comment! I still own this bike and actually just posted a video yesterday with it at the end firing it up. It's a great bike, I've turned down lots of offers on it. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful bike mate Nice to see an old Harley swingarm not made ridgid. They are rappidly getting rare as hens teeth. My 1973 FX is still a Swingarm and kicker only.
Thanks for posting these videos.. very informative. I picked up a numbers matching 72 FLH today. I’ve owned a couple Evos and a TC but this is my first Shovel.. I’m pretty stoked.
This is what turned me on when it came to Harley’s...sleds like this. Now it’s gangsta baggers, $50-60k custom pieces of crap that couldn’t hold ah candle to this beautiful ass ride. I would love to have this in my stable. Oh yeah, it sounds like he has her ass dialed in too...dang
I got 72 FLH drum back disc front almost positive it stock jerk was built pan didn't do crap to mine hell it won Daytona one year an couldn't fit in basement with pan left out side no cover or nothing. I rebuilt it's badass people ask what shape from him I just laugh pisses him off to no end dammit charlie I'm not 10 years old I'm 35 I'm not scared of you no more. Have great life. You do nice work
Really cool it started right up. Sounds really strong. Love that deep Harley thump. All that aside, get that 79 back on the lift. I need help and your videos have been the best I've seen.
real nice bike, 2 thumbs up. Put together a shovel chop in my basement this past winter, she's apart for paint right now. Sure hope it starts as sweet as that one does
I got a '72 XLCH about ready to be fired up,... She only had 6k miles, when I bought her as the previous owner had the engine rebuilt, I am just finishing up rebuilding everything else.
What a GREAT bike setup! Even has potato! I'd find a set of Heritage style mirrors and turn them under, if the elbow height is enough to look beneath. Looks cool and works.
Cool channel man I’m a old H-D lover also I like the way you put it loving every minute of it that sounds like me I love trading and wheeling and dealing to I get it. 👍🏻
You mentioned electronic ignition I have a wla42 do you recommend any supplier of electronic ignition systems for the older Harleys cheers Tim from downunder
workingmansdead 44 Yeah I'm still doin, been out riding a few times this year but cold and snow lately. Definitely ready for summer and have more videos once I can bring them out, thanks for watching! 👍
Good looking Bike ! Sounds good and i get what you were saying about the Flames IMO the way she sits now is a Classic Look withClass not over done or Obnoxious it looks right IMO i thought the 72 models had the Suicide Shifting on them ? but i’m not claiming to be a expert on Harleys and all the Manufacturig processes more specifically the AMF affected years as i know they had gray areas here and there
Sweet Shovel Brother, lot's of cool upgrades on there, I like that oil filter but those lines look a little close to the exhaust, hope they don't melt.
I know this is an old video but wondering if you still have it? If not what did it sell for? Btw. I don't care what anybody says but I like the flames.
Hey thanks Wayne, the videos about 5 years old and I still have it but sorry it's not for sale. I decided not to sell it and I'm glad, it really has been a great bike. Thanks for watching.
@jfrost77hd You're welcome. Good decision. It definitely looks like a keeper. Glad you're enjoying it. Maybe I should have you finish putting my 75 FLH shovelhead back together for me since I can't seem to get around to it myself. Stay safe brother.
excellent shovel... the oil pressure clock reads 20 psi regulating idle speed. When you warm up the engine to operating temperature, is that pressure maintained or does it drop? is the oil 20/50 for california? Greetings.
You've done a BEAUTIFUL job getting it back to reliable road worthiness. Will you leave it flamed out or are you going to paint it as well. Your work is very very respectable,,as you sound quite well versed in the language of the Harley........ and she sounds BALLS OUT AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
Thanks man, I've moved since this video but I'm still in Ohio. This videos quite a few years old and I still have the bike but I’ve never had to get inside it to see. Unfortunately couldn't tell you what cam it is. Thanks for watching 👍
Nice bike man, yeah can't wait for the snow to get lost up here either...I hate walking by my Challenger on its stands day in and day out...I'm going to have to get one of your shirts for Friday the 13th bike run this year...a little Northern advertising...lol.
angusandleigh Hey Paul, yeah I hear you man warmer weather can't come soon enough. Bet your itching to get the car out too. Hey there you go, be glad to send you a shirt and appreciate the advertisement for sure. Good hearing from you buddy, springs gotta be right around the corner 👍
...the one in April might be good...weather depending...but the one in July should be nuts...if you're itchin' for a roadtrip...lol...yeah I just go out and sit in her...fire 'er up...and relax to the rumble of the HEMI...
Don't like flames much? LOL Sweet Shovel. Love the Ironheads, but looking for a Shovel here locally to sink my teeth into. Great seeing another guy kick a big twin over and who's been bit by kick back. It's all about timing that's for sure. Looks like you did another great job getting another bike road ready.
Jack Price Hey thanks Jack, it's cleaner than most I come across but still had some bugs to work out. All in all I'm happy with the deal and itching to take it out, thanks for watching.
There for a minute I thought that was the bike that chrome and speed did not long ago. Glad you made a video you always seem to have neat stuff your working on.
Wallie2004 Not sure which bike your talking about off hand but the bike does a have a pretty cool look. I just stick with what I know, have parts for and find the right deal on, lol. I really do enjoy it, thanks for watching!
i need to know the tourk secqunce and the toutk in pounds. i also have a problem with the front cylenderrunning lean and the back cylender floding out and falling the plug
