Donnie2020 You have totally missed the point. Certainly it was a terrible moment for our medal hopes but it was an incredible moment for Australia as a nation. It showed our incredible aussie spirit in that he stayed on the bike and waved to the crowd, to his fans. I can't imagine the devastation he must have felt yet he handled himself like a true champion and I felt very proud to be an Australian that day.

He went too early. Bike not released so he popped the strap. Although there were 5 clear beeps so it should have released. Looks like a release fault. On zero usually a final beep that is deeper. Didn't hear it. Beep 5, Beep4, Beep3, Beep2, Beep1, Burp0.
