Great job, Robert! That little white glass jar was part of a salt and pepper shaker set from the mid-1970s, My mom had the very same set. They had silver tops on them, but I think the tops were plastic silver. They were pretty though. You are doing so well and finding a lot of cool stuff.
The milk glass thing is a Spice-O-Life shaker, made by Gemco, for Corning Ware and had a chrome plated plastic top which, I think, was still in that pot.
Yep, I got a set for a wedding gift 1972. I still use them. I thought I saw the top when he was swirling the contents around. The caps determined if it was salt or pepper by the amount of holes the caps had
Keeping that GE refrigerator is an excellent idea. We have my husband's mother's Westinghouse in our garage. It is identical to this one and was purchased in 1950 by his mama. The asking price was $219 which really puzzled us. She was a fruit grader when work was available and was on unemployment otherwise. My Bob, born in 1936, had small jobs here and there to help with rent and groceries. Your refrigerator won't work because the compressor has been bounced around. Ours worked well until the late 90s, when we transported it after she passed. The latch is identical to yours. Yes, some things are worth keeping. Perhaps lengths of velcro anchored to the door frame would keep it safely closed.
As long as you don't plug in the fridge within 24 hours of transporting it the compressor should survive just fine. Providing it still worked when the thing was abandoned. If any work is needed on the refrigeration system that's probably curtains though, few if any techs want to touch domestic fridges and freezers because they aren't really made to work on, or so I've been told. Even those really old ones.
my granddad worked for GE for 27 years, we had a fridge from the 1960's that was still working in 1994 - 30+ years later. Some will use the carcass, install new works and sell them as classic fridges. Sales people would travel around and sell Pyrex at local fairs, etc., they were quite fashionable back in the day.
My dad had 50 GMC Frigidaire that was a beast still work your beer would super ice cold all most frozen he sold to guy making retro kitchen all need new door seals
Look how far you have come Robert l have watched you from the start and l am just blown away how far you have come so happy and proud for you can't wait to see you finish it love all you do thanks you for taking us along never a dull moment take care God bless❤
Oh my, that first one you found in the fridge is highly sought after!! And Rare! I can’t think of the pattern name at the moment, but many want it but not many around! Congratulations!
Like that you will refurbish the fridge. One important thing to know about those latches. They will not open from the inside and kids playing hide and seek can get stuck and suffocate if not found in time. Junk yards always removed the doors for that reason
those really old refrigerators make good meat smokers just remove rubber door gasket and freezer section put chimney out top with draft control and smoke heat in let at bottom actual 🔥 fire locate to the side and piped in under into refrigerator box
I'm not being mean or disrespectful, but I need to ask, how did all those rooms get full of so much garbage? The refrigerator is salvageable and is something that we all have used and still do, but I do see basic garbage mostly. No, I haven't viewed every video you've made, so maybe I've missed something. Again, no disrespect, just curiosity. I wish you the best with your project.
Congrats on the moving of the refrigerator. I could make a fairly good place to store some things. We have a very old small refrigerator down in the basement that came with the house. It did work, but is too small. We now use it for storage of documents and stuff, almost like a safe. That rolling devise looks to me like a very good place to put large potted plants in the house.
I bet that old fridge still works if you plug it in. Those old things just don't quit. Just be advised, they stopped making refrigerators with latches like that because kids used to get locked in them and not be found until it was too late.
Aloha 🌺 Robert! It's so funny, we just bought a new refrigerator Tuesday, was delivered yesterday. We had an Amana side by side, could be repaired independently, access was in the refrigerator. We've had it since 2004. Hope my new one lasts as long!😊🥰
My Grandmother had a frig like that. She was still using it in the 80’s when she left us. I remember the icebox would get so full of ice you couldn’t get anything in or out. Then you had to defrost it. Great old frig!❤️🤗🐝
The small white jar you found in the fridge is a Gemco condiment dispenser base in the Spice of Life pattern. It's obviously missing the pump lid. These were usually - but not always - labeled in French. La Saliere on the salt shaker. Sauce de Tomate on the ketchup dispenser. Etc. Yours looks unmarked which makes me suspect it's an earlier variant. Roughly from like 1972... 3... 4... ish. The condiment dispensers were slightly larger than the salt and pepper shakers. Going off the amount of negative space above and below the pattern, I believe this is a condiment NOT a S&P.
That small milk glass jar is one of a set of Salt & Pepper shakers by Pyrex. They have a silver metal screw top with a slanted/angled flat top, like one side to a low pitched roof. Thx for filming this and sharing it with us. 👍👍👍👍👍
Why?!? Why?! Here, I thought snakes were coiled up far,far away, but what does Robert say? No, they're still around staying warm.😮 When your video came on, you said, "One man,one refrigerator, let's get this out of here. Just as soon as you said that, a Huggies diaper ad came on. I had to laugh.
Your refrigerator was made in 1944 or there abouts. Serial # should be in the back, very bottm, silver plate, H3019-890, if I am correct. Let me know if the # is different. Nice snake info, thanks! Man VS Refrigerator is officially a success!! Where did you get those trash bags? Both PYREX, nice!! ❣️❣️👍👍[
I received my candle today in Fall on the Farm fragrance. It smells AMAZING, but it's a Christmas present for my daughter so I guess I'm going to have to buy another one for myself.
The little white thing with the fruits/vegetables on it is Corningware salt & pepper shaker. My mother-in-law had a set. Also, we have an old Frigidaire (made by GM) in our garage that we keep our waters and cokes in. Probably 60+ yrs old! Our handle is broken too. Love that thing!
Robert you are doing amazing. The white milk glass is part of a set of salt and pepper shakers my sister has the complete set. With sugar bowl and creamer. Very cool you found it. Lots of love and hugs to you all 😊
Did you read a little princess by frances hodgson burnett? That is the only place I've seen that comment. Sara Crewe told Ermengarde the magic provides
