I am not black or white or American. I don’t know much about Basketball except that there are players like Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan and a few others who have become house hold names outside the US. I am sorry if I missed out many names; a few faces come to mind but I can’t remember their names. I don’t know why this popped up on my feed but as long as discussions are centered around “best black player” vs “best white player” I don’t see the USA getting past their racial divide. Why shouldn’t the discussion be about who is the best center or best guard regardless of colour, caste, ethnicity, religion or community? As an outsider, we admire the US for its focus on meritocracy, it’s elite institutions of higher learning, the appetite to risk capital on innovative ideas, it’s political structure and it’s promotion of individualism. No one asks if the founder of Amazon was white or black or Facebook or Google or Tesla or any of the dozens of world class corporations that provide goods and service to the rest of the world. What matters is what they deliver as should be case for any sportsperson. All this noise about black or white distracts from the real story. Is Ms. Clark as good as Ms. Wilson? My guess based on what I have learned from this video is “maybe not”. Is Ms. Clark the best rookie this year? Maybe yes (she has competition from Angel Reese). Will Ms. Clark one day be as good as Ms. Wilson? Most probably, if she continues to improve and perform. Comparing a player who has been in league for 4-5 years vs one who has just entered is unfair to BOTH of them. The former has proved to be a consistent performer, the latter is an exciting prospect. The fact that a 62 year old Asian man is commenting on a sport he has never seen played speaks volumes about the exposure Ms. Clark has bought to the league. Ms. Wilson and her peers should be welcoming that attention. It don’t matter if Ms Clark is black or white. P.S. Not having enough understanding on this topic, I’d like to know if would Ms Clark would have garnered this level of attention if she was black? Have other rookies in the past (regardless of colour) gotten this level or media coverage? I hope for America’s sake the answer to both those questions is YES.

@@navinadv Sir, the answer is a big yes. CC style of play comes from playing against boys in several sports because there were no girl sport teams for her to compete on. I too believe in meritocracy as it pertains to what we achieve or obtain in life. Race should be the last thing for individuals to consider. On the men’s side of sports you have Luca Doncic (sp), Porzinghas (sp), Joker, Cooper Flagg (college, Duke), athlete and all you see and hear is love for these players. I do not understand why all of the hatred in the year 2024 in women’s sports? That is one that I cannot answer?

@@LooneyBaby37 Before magic and Bird, the dying NBA merged with the ABA. The ABA had Dr J who was the largest draw and saved the league and everyone loved him. The bird/magic thing is a pr stunt. CC is next level, and Angel isn't. Angle was the 3rd pick at her position. 7th overall in the draft. She doesn't have a complete of skillset. Nor is CC's completely developed. It doesn't mean Angel isn't a good player. Aliyeah Edwards that was picked at #6 isn't getting the minutes Reese is. like 1/3 less, if you add those stats to edwards totals, they are pretty comparable to what Reese gets.

It is because CC is at a different level. Angel isn't. Otherwise she would be selling out arenas. And that hasn't happened. If Angel was on another level, she wouldn't have been 3rd pick at her position either. She would have been 1st at her position out of college. IF you are a next level player in college, you will be drafted at a higher position then 3rd at your position. I honestly don't think you understand how good Bird and Magic were in College. Nor do I think you understand what makes a next level player, and WHY people want to see one play. That isn't saying Angel isn't a good player, she just isn't at that next level. I think the Basketball community was genuinely fed up of Hearing the WNBA players constantly complaining about not getting attention and not getting paid more and now that a solution to both those problems has come on Caitlin clark and yet here are the same WNBAs players who stand to benefit the most wanting to ruin it just cause they jealous of the attention Caitlin's getting with it and Honestly the rest of Us are tired of it and Just want that league to grow

What other woman in the WNBA that was a bigger draw and brought more views to the WNBA compared to Clark? Only 1 other player had a triple double in the WNBA past or present players...no other has had 2 triple doubles like Clark has... All these players that you think are at or above the level of Clark is just pathetic because you know it's BS. If what ypu said was true how come games weren't ever sold out prior to this year when Clark showed up on the scene. The veterans can't help themselves but to hate on Clark because they know she's just better than the rest in every category except getting your own rebound from missing an easy lay-up 2 or 3 times in a row. If ypu removed Reese rebound off her own poor shots as her 16 game run of 10 or more rebounds would've been under 10 rebounds in 15 of the 16 games that Reese got credit for over 10 rebounds which is just Reese padding her stats because she can't get those stats without not being able to hit easy lay-ups over and over again. Clark is the best player in the WNBA, she's got the most eyes on the sport because she's playing in the WNBA. without Clark the WNBA teams would be back flying on spirit airlines in coach versus now that Clark is there and any stadium she plays in ends up selling out or being over 90% of seats field...prior to Clark the the WNBA would still struggle to get 50% of the seats filled.
