It's because of rules around companies that go public (stock market). They must make profits for the shareholders. And that goes and hurt their clients and lowest levels of workers. They get squeezed. The corporation starts to make cuts and "improvements" to raise profits. And see how far they can push it. Those are laws that need changing.
Those not laws, they are features of the capitalism. The real issues are. #1 being a shareholder is a privilege only the rich can afford. Before you can just shares. Now you have so many middlemen and fees for everyone playing with less them $1 million to $5 million in capital. BUT if you have that capital those fees all suddenly disappear. #2. The US tax curve is actually upside down. The bottom $150k earners pay more in taxes with less opportunities for deductions then those above. Above 1 million basically move all their money into trusts and overseas accounts. Illegal sometimes but only if you are caught. There are a few other issues. But basically the system is setup by the rich to print money for the rich. Because there are no term limits and no donation limits in the government there is no reason to change. Have you checked the average age of your government?

I’ve been hearing about this issue for a while now. As a native Wisconsinite that comes from 4 generations of Family Farmers from across the Farm Belt I’m disappointed and frankly disgusted by what John Deere is doing to rural America. On the farm we could fix all most any problems with the equipment, we could depend on parts from local dealers, and get solid help and advice from people we trusted! I can only imagine what the company’s founders would have to say about this all! And now the company wants to cut the jobs of Americans and move manufacturing to Mexico for cheaper labor, even less regulation and destruction of even more Union jobs in the US, all in the name of higher profits and less regulation for the company’s CEO! I don’t have anything against Mexican manufacturing, they need jobs there too, but when I see rows of farming equipment sitting outside of factories in industrial cities in central Mexico, that Mexican farmers can’t even afford themselves, I know that something is very wrong with the whole system! And, in my opinion, the rotten system is pushing Family Farmers to the brink of financial failure, and extinction! Think about that the next time you go to the grocery store! Demand that the food chain be protected by the government and that the big equipment manufacturers take responsibility for their shady business practices! Thank you and Thank the Family Farmers!
@@LarryStallings-dk4rr Ford ,GM, Chrysler,Navistar,The Budd Group, and many more. The worst part with GM and Chrysler is that they took tax dollars to save their asses and still moved major production to Mexico. That should really infuriate people.
I am going to rebuild an old Massey furgussen tractor. No interest in dealing with Deere anymore. My neighbor had 32,000 hours on his macormick deering. We just rebuild the old iron. If Deere does this, they can go to hell.
Trump will say anything to get elected. Why don't Trump take the lead and stop having all his Trump branded merchandise made in china, and have it all made in the "good Ole USofA" !
A tariff is a cost to the consumer trump is an idiot. Best to boycott JD but that doesn't help farmers who are locked in to equipment finance and JD software. 🔵
JohnDeere was pulling this stuff for over 30 years I worked maintenance at a concrete pipe company we had a JohnDeere loader you couldn't take the starter off that loader without a special JohnDeere wrench it was called in the owners manual and parts manual the starter had 3 bolts 2 of them could be removed when you call the JohnDeere dealership they won't sell you the wrench
Drill it out and fit a decent normal bolt. Don't let the idiots screw you. Much of the equipment that comes to me has secure torx screws down plastic tubes where you need a tool specifically to fit that hole which although you can buy a bit to fit the screw you can't get a dedicated tool to fit the hole. So you break out the screw in any way you can and fit normal screws. It is deliberate part of the designed in obsolescence world so a damaged lead on a DeWalt charger would mean you need to pay them for a complete new charger. Stuff that! I have been fixing this stuff all my life and don't take kindly to this sort of thing. Totally unnecessary! And the idea is the same at any scale of goods.
Yes , unfortunately the computer age brings benefits but some cons as well. I drove older tractors some decades ago , they where nice and simple , we had an old Ford 5000 , a fendt , a fiat , and a John Deere and a couple of others including an old Massey with a lot of glass in the cabin , we called it the pope mobile 😊, it was my favorite tractor to drive. The John Deere however was the Rolls Royce of tractors though imo.
That’s the problem with tech overtaking farming equipment. Time to support small companies, that care for those they’re serving & more farmers to be supported in Regenerative Farming. Growing healthier, more nutrient dense food here in America 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I've been told the Chinese can build farm equipment as good as Deere and sell for a lot less with open leave to repair in the field. What's wrong with our USA company?
Trump is correct but should say it differently!Saying Tariffs or saying Communist 2/3 of the people don't understand either. He should say we will work with Derre and regulations to restore America.
Trump should take the lead and stop having his merchandise made in China, and made in the "good Ole USofA", don't you agree! If Trump don't stop his made in china merchandise and move it all to the US, then he is just "grand standing" again just to get votes.
Better chance that Kamala would change it than Trump. But neither will. There are laws about publicly traded companies that they must work to make more profits for the shareholders. Neither side wants to change those. They get payed to well by those that profit (including themselves).
The key concept is the fiduciary duty of corporate directors and officers. They are legally required to act in the best interests of the shareholders, which traditionally has been interpreted as focusing on increasing the company's value, often tied to profitability.
John Deere is also 1 of the biggest investors in a co2 pipeline thats trying to eminet domain land aay from hundreds of farmers from Iowa and the Dakotas. Stealing their land for carbon tax credits.
Not a tough call. Right to repair should be the law of the land. Personally I would change the company I buy my equipment from. Get several farms together and each year or 2 the collective buys a new piece of equipment to share. Just like the Amish help each other build barns and houses and farm. If someone plow breaks another will help. John deer go to hell.
My John Deere lawn mower started moving slowly because the hydraulic fluid in the transmission has broken down after only 400 hours of use. Quoted NZ$8000 to replace it because of some lousy transmission fluid.
So there is now a reason why you would want any piece of JD equipment stripped of its JD electronics and fitted with a standard PC that can take over the bits that have to have a computer and the rest returned to something more simple and fundamental. Like a lever or a straight forward switch. I have a feeling that 2 years with one of JD's machine and a couple of good reverse engineering techs would have tractors and combines and all the gear in a state where the electronics is a much cheaper and easy spares situation, where the computer OS is stick a DVD in the drive and put it back to default and make it so it lasts 20 years. You could have a generic control hardware system where you could buy the same hardware for every piece of machinery you own and have half a dozen of them as spares. Better still why not use a Raspberry Pi machine to do it all?
Dealers losing tecks with IQ of 160 Can u fix your own laptop? Hell no some tractors have 8 high teck laptops that work in unison and when sold flares cause the steering loss of control . Happen last month !!!!!
What about American farmers? All that money this video is talking about Chinese has stop buying from America God help us.We need farmers all food so we can stop getting from other countries. All jobs across the water sad
This guy repeats and repeats the same thing over and over again. I think just to fill up the video time. Watch first 3 min and skip to end, same as beginning.
Not true. OBD and OBD2 are industry standards. The subsystems however like transmission modules are proprietary and within the last decade auto makers have made it more difficult to swap parts without dealer software.
Well with all the technology in automobiles these days not alot of people could fix all that stuff even experienced mechanics can't even fix everything
All these folks and unions scream about how much the CEO's make... need to focus on THE REALPROBLEM!!! That is how much is it costing to live!!! Everything from greedy landlords / HOA's, insurance companies ,expense things that they really don't need or can use, waste in spending, personal destructive spending habits like gambling and drug abuse, etc!
There are Japan (Kubota), China, India, German farm machinery available. BUT US impose tariffs and John Deere monopoly stand in the way... US farmers are stucked.
3 things: a motor needs air fuel and spark! Tare out the computer crap and change the fuel and ignition system go back to the mechanical system other words go back to old-school style ❤ this y I drive a 1964 Chevy truck with the original points system emp will not effect points ignition system F.Y.I
That's what I've been telling all my friends. The transportation system automatically shuts down. All modern tractors shut down on these farms and then can't fight a war due to starvation and people dying everywhere. Meanwhile, our politicians only think of insider trading and getting wealthy. It's obvious their minds aren't on our country.
Something needs to be done about all of these greedy big corps. Poor old John Deere is spinning in his grave now over what his name sake has become..... A Dear John letter from farmers leaving them.
I worked for a company that was bought out. We were based on Long Island, the company that bought us moved all of the company's assets/production to Nogales Mexico where the purchasing company had "its" production. The product produced cost more to make in Mexico than on Long Island as the product failure rates went through the roof exceeding 15% where as it once was well under 1%.
My father used to work for John Deere. Now even I won't buy a John Deere. I hate to say this but John Deere used Yanmar Engines in some smaller machines, and they worked well. That's what I'd buy.
Hey all! It is happening all over, your iPhone, computer and your cars too. Before you got Electric al schema in The handbok for youre car. Nowdays you need a computer/workstation to change oil becouse you need to reset The computer. It is not many things you can do anymore without reset ting a computer some where.
Trump should encourage states to stop state purchases of John Deere for equipment, if the CEO wants to be so wealthy and move the plant to Mexico. State contracts all across this nation has made John Deere excel above other brands.
John deer didn’t regulate after market treatment systems that require these computers and software, California and Carb did with the EPA following behind endorsing it.
Simple, stop buying John Deere and switch to a manufacture that is prepared to invest production lines in America without restrictions on the purchaser/farmer. And for those that have already purchased JD equipment continue with the law suits to enforce your rights as a Consumer but get away from Green as soon as financially possible.
At one time there were many, now only one, monopoly is good for business, not good for the farmer.. In the end, they'll only be one company worldwide, the China company.
Everyone one here commenting. Doesn't have a clue, seriously!!! Even the speaker on this video isn't even close, They may have lasted longer then international, but their going in the same path, out of business... The farmers are in it just as deep as the ceo, they voted with every dollar the farmer spent on John deer, doesnt matter how much the ceo made, the farmer put the money in his pocket, It goes in to alot of other directions not just farming.
That's one of the most scrambled videos I've had the displeasure of watching. Oh the subject matter is interesting but the editing sure sucks with repeats and all kinds of rookie mistakes. "One farmer said..." was used way too many times as well.
Actually, John Deer is following in the footsteps of the automobile industry, which has been designing vehicles to ensure it would necessitate the owner return it to the dealer for maintenance.
All soft ware can be changed to another soft ware just look a motors size an another company soft where my change it to one ya know like freightliner one that has same fireing order or the same similar emissions go with it who needs there computer or use there system that you know put it on
